Our stay was very pleasant. Yes it is just a motel with no interior corridors. But the nicest one of these I have ever stayed at. Landscaped nicely, great location, not near any loud traffic although it is on the main street in "downtown" Taos.

The pet fee was very reasonable and everyone greeted the princess Tesla in the way she expects, guests and staff alike. The manager's dogs who live on the property were very laid back and well behaved and did not try to engage our dog when they met. Was able to have breakfast with our canine family in the plastic enclosed heated patio section.

Room was large and comfortable. We took the king with fireplace. The wood fire was very relaxing and made it feel more like vacation retreat than a motel room. The heater worked very well in November in Taos which is getting quite cold at night already. It could have been drafty with the sliding door to the grass yard plus the updraft in the fireplace, but it was not.

Yes the upstairs sounded like construction workers were pounding away when the guests above walked around. But the ground floor room next to the pet area is worth that. Anyway Taos visitors don't stay up late so much it seems because the guests above it settled down early, just like us.

Taos is an expensive town to leisure in, we really appreciated the very reasonable rates so we could spend our money on other things. In addition the Pork, apricot habanero and fried onion Taco from the taco stand next to the Taos Alehouse across the street was just the best gourmet junky ummmmm.

Will be back to stay at the el Pueblo Lodge again, and again.

Slogging home to Colorado from Houston, we've made it a habit to spend a night at El Pueblo Lodge. We get a good night's sleep in an exquisite pillow-topped bed before the last day's push.

During the summer and winter tourist seasons we like to get a room in the rear building, away from traffic noise, but last night we chose one of the much-older rooms across from the office. These appear to date from the 1940s, as they are a string of fairly small units with an outdoor entrance. You park right in front of your door.

El Pueblo Lodge has been well cared-for over the years, and in the last several years the owners have gone to great lengths to elevate the accommodations from motel to hotel quality. I for one am grateful that they've done so without ruining the historic character of the place. When in Taos, who wants to feel like they're in Denver?

Room Tip: For the most Taos character, ask for a room in the south building, where the oldest rooms are locate...

I went to Taos for a 3 day girl's getaway. This motel is wonderful. The rooms are large and spotless. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is good and the eating area is very comfortable. At night you can sit by the fireplace. It is walking distance from town. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back.

My husband and I decided to take a quick trip to Taos and booked this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. Everything is old in Taos so you won't find any modern, flashy hotels or lodging. This hotel has been well cared for, is immaculately clean and the rooms have been quaintly updated. The bed was fantastic and we enjoyed having our own screened-in balcony with chairs to watch the sun set over the mountains. Had it been a little cooler, we would have enjoyed a fire in the fireplace. We did get to enjoy the hot tub for a little while. The hotel is within walking distance to the town square and once we arrived at the hotel, we didn't move the car until we were ready to leave. We had a very enjoyable trip!

We were so delighted with this most comfortable hotel and considered it a great value. The setting is lovely, great outdoor spaces an the hotel rooms large and beautifully furnished. The staff were most cordial and helpful and it is an excellent value which includes a very nice breakfast. Close to most attractions in Taos, don't think it could be any better.

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room near the back with fireplace.

Cousin and I were very much impressed with El Pueblo. The nice beds with good linens and luxe lotions were minor compared to the fab treatment from the staff. Excellent walking location to the plaza and lots of good places.

Totally enjoyed our time here. Found it by using the reviews on tripadvisor. The room was just as described...comfortable queen-sized beds...plenty of towels and wash cloths...lovely fireplace supplied with wood. A plus for me was that the rooms are all non-smoking, so there was no residual tobacco smoke smell. There were 2 chairs and a small table outside at both the front and back doors. Enjoyed sitting in back where we had complete privacy. The location was great...not too far from the square for shopping and places to eat. Even though it was on one of the main roads, it was very quiet. The continental breakfast was very nice with plenty to choose from. Our first morning we did not get to the breakfast area until almost 9 and I was afraid there would not be much of a variety. However, there was plenty. Coffee and tea are available 24/7. Don't think I mentioned the fresh cookies on the reception counter. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We needed help with our luggage and a large, heavy breathing machine for my friend. The gentleman who helped us did so graciously with a smile on his face. We did not use the fitness center, laundry, or pool (don't think it was opened). I will most certainly stay here again and highly recommend it to everyone. The one thing I would recommend to management (and I already did) is that they add hooks to the inside of the door in the shower/toilet room.
