It's small in the main area, and the nightly music is piped up the two story central area so it can be noisy as well if your room is in the main building. My room was a last minute special as plans suddenly changed, and was dingy and had a nasty airconditioning system that was essentially unuseable due to its roar. Luckily it wasn't hot at night, just stuffy, as the nights cool off significantly in Taos.
The outdoor terrace is small and right on the main road so a bit noisy, but nice as evening falls. The inside bar and performance area is crowded and busy and seeing the performer can be a challenge, and the quality ranges widely according to taste.
The central location is good, and a room in one of the out buildings would be the way to go as that would be quieter and the location can't be topped. Walk down the street to the coffee shop on the SE corner just before the plaza. It opens at 7 (even on Memorial Day), has some nice muffins and such, and is a local center for good coffee and local color; you can overhear the trials and tribulations of local business folks at times as well there.More
