“Quaint little retreat”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 via mobile

Loved our little adobe style room in the courtyard. It even had a fireplace in the corner... Very friendly and helpful staff, they recommended a lot if interesting side trips. Loved the live music in the lobby and bar area which made this a fun place to stay in the center of Taos! Great access to shopping and historical area.
We loved our stay and want to bring the kids...

From the lobby to the private courtyards to the oh-so-tasteful room, the Taos Inn was a great place to stay. We enjoyed the live music in the lobby with its spring-fed fountain, and we spent some time in our little private courtyard, having a drink. It was in a good location, walking distance to the things we wanted to see. We walked up the street to have breakfast at Michael's Bakery and Restaurant. Try the cinnamon rolls!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sandoval building. I think Helen's House would also be good.

We booked the smallest room in the place but we knew that going in. The location couldn't be betters the staff was friendly and helpful. We found that after checking out the nightlife in town, the best spot was right where we were staying. Live bands played until 10 PM each night from the lobby rift outside our door. but we enjoyed. My only complaint is that the free wifi was almost useless. But all in all, I would highly recommend it.

I stayed in this inn for one night. The room was clean, but small. The bed was a little squeaky and so was the floor. The one chair in the room was an uncomfortable wicker chair similar to one you might find on the patio.

The staff was very polite and helpful. You can't beat the location.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the main house. The courtyard buildings are a lot quieter.

Overall this historic hotel has a lot to offer but our room in the main building left a lot to be desired. When traveling, we try to stay at historic properties so we appreciate "old." However, the furnishings were scuffed and tired looking, the A/C was loud and did not adequately cool the room. Nevertheless, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Great lobby bar with adjacent outdoor patio AND they have nightly live music. Friendly and accommodating staff. Would stay again - just not in the main building.

We stayed here for one night so we could see a little of Taos and its famous mission and Pueblo. It was a family trip so we got a room that would accommodate four people. It was in the main building, just behind the lobby/bar area. The place was crowded with guests as well as people who were dropping by from the street for lunch and drinks. The outdoor seating area was almost full and it took a long time to order a couple of beers. We were never able to really enjoy a quiet drink at the bar as it was Friday night and they had live music and a crowded lobby and bar. I think one would be better off visiting on a weekday and getting a room not in the main building. The room was stuffy and noisy because of tis proximity to the lobby and the live music. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant was satisfactory. Would probably stay here again, but would request a room outside of the main building.

Room Tip: Don't stay in main building and stay during the week if you want some peace. Some of the rooms t...

Friendly staff and a pretty good (though expensive) restaurant with nice wine list did not make up for the disappointing room. Common areas were fine, appreciated the free coffee and outdoor space, but the room was downright depressing. Not "historic", just tired. Only the walk-in shower seemed fresh. Decor nondescript and did not appeal. Pillows and bedspread old - would not go back.
