bottom line-La Dona Luz is my favorite place to stay out of anywhwere I have ever stayed. I have traveled to Europe at least 6 times, stayed in many very very nice places there as well as throughout the Souhwest and Northeast and of all the places i prefer La Dona... Paco is a TERRIFIC host, the B and B is spectacular, the rooms are themed and gorgeous, the location can't possibly be beat etc etc etc.We have stayed there at least ten times and are looking forward to the next ten plus times.

We have been going to Taos and staying at La Dona Luz each trip since about 1998. We love being able to walk all over without driving and enjoy Paco and his hospitality. We have made two of our stays with granddaughters. On one occasion, the two older girls had a birthday while we were there, and and we all enjoyed festivites in the living room. We stayed in the Rainbow room with the two younger girls; they loved the hot tub on the roof. We enjoy the lovely southwestern decor throughout the themed rooms: we have stayed in most of them. We highly recommend this B and B. Loy and Dick Markley

My wife and I stayed at Paco's place (La Dona Luz B&B) in Taos, the last of several stays there over the last few years. As usual we had a wonderful experience. Paco is a fantastic host because he spends so much time with his guests, conversing, recommending sites/restaurants, tips, etc. His historic adobe B&B is an artist's paradise because each room is full from top to bottom with exquisite southwestern and American Indian art, most originals, each of which is an entire story by itself. Several of the rooms have kiva fireplaces, brightly covered Mexican tile and a hot breakfast to top it all off. It is centrally located about 2 minutes from the Taos Plaza and surrounded with the beauty of the Taos Mountains and Pueblo. La Dona Luz is our first and only choice of places to stay in Taos, and we have stayed in many. I am sure Paco will treat you like he does all his guests, with fun stories and a big welcome.

Room Tip: The rooms upstairs have great views of the mountains.

This is our second adventure @ the Dona Luz Inn.... We spent our "second" honeymoon there back in 2011 when the Laughing Horse backed out on us..... This place is a GODSEND..... There were 5 of us in our party......we had the DELUX accommodations..... I happened to be in the living area as MariannFlinker was berating the place, the owner ( Paco....who jumps through hoops to make sure his guests are comfortable and happy! She had nothing constructive to say and it was sad to see someone so dissatisfied in such beautiful surroundings ) But our stay couldn't have been better...... We had the Rainbow SUITE.....with the hot tub on the roof and the rising full moon.....the sunset.....the hot tub....printed words can't describe it here...... The breakfasts were GREAT.....hot homemade waffles served at your table with fresh strawberries...
yogurt....fresh fruit.....granola....cereal..... YUMMMM!!!
It is a charming place with the most interesting art work covering from modern to ancient...... and you truly feel like you are a welcomed friend in an amazing warm home. The plaza is easy walking distance and Eske's Brew pub is next door....no need for designated drivers....
The whole house was sparking clean and yet had the aura of the 200 year old hacienda it is.
Thank you Paco for another wonderful sojourn....we will be back.

Paco, the owner did a wonderful job renovating this property. We loved so much about it. So close to the plaza area, restuarants, etc Very comfortable beds, and furnishings and spottlessly clean. There are two things that I felt needed a change. First off, the wireless is very spotty, so I think he should have a desk top computer that people could use. I never was able to connect to internet on my phone. The breakfast was acceptable, but more of what you would expect at a Days Inn than at a bed and breakfast, so that was disappointing. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and if ever in Taos again we would stay there/

It Could be very Nice ten years ago but now it's quiet dingy.
That's one of thé reason it's too expensive for thé quality.
It was also stinky In thé groundfloor.
Compare to other nice hôtel In thé area it's régal lt's really not a good choice

After staying a day during one of the busiest weekends of the year, this guest decided that I should match the rate of another inn she had seen. She stated that the lower rate room was much smaller, but she didn’t need all the space anyway. It is difficult to understand how it was my responsibility that she reserved a room that was larger and offered more amenities than she required and it was unreasonable to expect me to match the rate of an inn in a less desirable location that simply did not compare.

She stated that some things needed to be “refreshed” and therefore the room was not worth the price. I asked her to please show me what was lacking. She struggled to find an example, looking around the room and said, “the artwork”, and looking further, “the couch”. The art work features nineteenth century icons of the Madonna and Child as well as original works by well-known Taos artists. I will not be “refreshing” nineteenth century museum quality icons anytime soon! I agreed that the couch is ready to be replaced and told her that I was having one handmade in the New Mexican style. I am continuously in the process of improving and updating all the rooms and to illustrate, I called her attention to the new hand-embroidered curtains, new large flat-screen TVs, stereo and iPod dock.

She agreed that the room was “very clean” and that there were no housekeeping issues whatsoever.

The common areas are immaculate. All the wood work was just oiled with lemon oil and all surfaces cleaned. As I was concerned and could detect no odor, I asked several guests and employees if anyone else could, but no one did. The lemon oil perhaps? Rest assured it smells clean and quite nice.

La Madonna is a very spacious upstairs suite with large bedroom with two queen beds and sitting room with probably the best view of Taos Mountain in the downtown area. It boasts a wonderful collection of original fine art and folk art and also features a large veranda, flower-filled sun deck and free parking. The average room rate paid by this guest in high season was $149.

Had this guest reserved one of our smaller and less expensive suites, this review would not have been written or the tone would be very different. I generally love to read our reviews on Trip Advisor and work hard to make this inn a very special place. I also take seriously any suggestions for improvement, but this one unfortunately offers nothing of value.

Paco greeted us like family and shared his beautiful home with us. So many details done perfectly that we cannot fit in one review. We stayed in the Rainbow Suite - could have had our family there with room to spare. Lots of stairs but for us that was okay. Enjoyed the view of the mountains from the terrace...while we enjoyed a relaxing evening in our personal hot tub.

Breakfast was great - Susan was so pleasant!

The location is amazing - right in the heart of town one block from the Plaza - but still quiet at night. We heard about a new room being added - we'll be back to try that one day soon.
