Located right on the plaza, this historic, well run hotel provided us with a wonderful opportunity to experience "authentic" Taos. Friendly staff and ability to explore by walking made for a stress free visit. When possible, my husband and I look for unique hotels to experience the local flavor and found this one clean and more than adequately appointed at a reasonable price.

Our trip to Taos left us wanting to enjoy everything for much longer, yes, we were there for too short a time! We will fix that next year! The hotel was beautiful, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the free poured coffee at the coffee shop was awesome, and the room was outstanding. Small but very well appointed and comfortable. We will be staying here when we go back next year, guaranteed!

Room Tip: We had a corner room up front, we loved it!

The first floor of this hotel was built in 1820 and you can feel the history the moment you walk into the lobby. We feared that staying in the heart of Taos in the historical Plaza would carry a premium, and we held our breath when we asked about prices. We were relieved that they weren't out of our price range. The viewing of D H Lawrence's banned paintings was a highlight and the free parking and complimentary Starbucks coffee was welcome, not to mention the 15% discount in the restaurant (Mosaic Fine Dining - see separate review). We can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

While the building itself is fairly old, it is well maintained, and the rooms have more character than your national chains would. It faces the main plaza in town, and is surrounded by interesting shops. We stayed while skiing at a nearby resort area, and found the staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived late on our day of check-in, and they even waived the parking fee. This was our second stay at this property, and we will be back.

This is a nice old hotel. The linens we good. The room was clean. But there were a few problems. We could not set the heat low enough to be comfortable. I saw other rooms had their windows open. The hotel is next to a bar that plays music until midnight. The hotel must know about this because they provide ear plugs in the room. The bed was not very comfortable. We usually stay away from the plaza. But we wanted to give this a try. We won't be back
