The rooms were very elegantly decorated and clean... Loved the bathroom amenities! Very quaint, cozy historic hotel in a great location! Service was more than helpful and accommodating. Loved the atmosphere. Will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Taos!

We paid in excess of $200/night for a king suite, which was cramped and dark and noisy. It was devoid of a coffee maker, which was an advertised amenity on line when we booked and we were told we would have to access coffee downstairs in a coffee shop near the foyer (in business hours!). We could not make long distance calls from our room...were told we had to go to reception and buy a phone card for $8 in order to do so. I have never slept in a less comfortable bed, we were told it was new but we sank into the middle of it. In all, a dreadful experience I would not want to repeat and I struggle to find anything positive about this hotel. I could NEVER recommend it.

This hotel was the best fit for our small party of three since it is on the plaza and we had no transportation. Took the Rail Runner from Albuq to Santa Fe, then the shuttle from SF to Taos. Amazingly cheap and affordable public transportation. The room was very tiny and noisy, although very clean and charming. The restaurant was not open for breakfast, which was a big disappointment; however, there are several restaurants within walking distance with outstanding menus. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Would do it again!

We had a great stay of two nights at this hotel. The rooms are very small, it is an old historic hotel, but clean and fashionable. Taos is small, you don't really have to stay on the plaza. But if you're looking for something other than a bed and breakfast this should meet your needs.

Free Starbucks coffee and bottled water for guests, in the attached coffee shop downstairs. The restaurant appeared very dark and uninviting so we didn't venture in. Many places for an excellent breakfast within walking distance.

This hotel is right on the historic plaza in Taos. Free parking immediately behind the hotel. The rooms were small. Noise from the ground floor bar/restaurant were easily heard in the room. I felt it was overpriced for what you get. Entrance door is locked after 10pm and should be able to be opened with access card, but at 5:30am upon leaving the hotel, I found the entrance door to be locked with the deadbolt...could not have come in from the outside. I assume there is no desk staff on duty at night. There are probably better hotels for the same price range in Taos...we didn't look too hard because is was only for one night and we didn't do much advance planning.

What a night after a long day of skiing and no hot H20 to be had. Then horrific clanking heater noise all night long with the conversations from adjacent rooms coming right through the walls...The expensive decor and the designer bathroom products were not worth the tiny noisy space we inhabited for one night. Also, if you really want to see those DH Lawrence paintings you need to be bold and insist with the front desk. Otherwise it remains locked and you cannot see them. If there is not more than one person working the desk, they will tell you that they can't unlock the room where the paintings are. You can push for a rain check but that's about it. Good Luck, you'll need it!

There will always be people who see the
glass half empty no matter what and become disagreeable when eveyone else doesn't share the same point of view. No amount of
accommodation will assuage them.
We simply move on to the next guest doing
the best we can.

Stayed over the recent holidays and loved it. The staff went out of their way and the holiday spirit and decor were wonderful. The history of the place is remarkable and with all the recent renovations and amenities the rooms were very comfortable.
It is an historic property so ther rooms are relatively small but very cozy and well appointed, somewhat like a fine old European hotel. There is a free internet access and a Starbucks coffee shop off the lobby where guests get comlimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate throughout their stay. Joseph's Table restaurant is in the hotel and is really fabulous. Try the "duck fat fries" The onsite parking is free and with the hotel location on the Plaza there are so many things to see and do all within walking distance. Overall a wonderful trip. We will be returning.
