You can bring the dog, the kids and a blanket and enjoy this 'bigger than it looks' park. We went right after 8inches of snow and had a blast... saw the gravestones and read the stories about a great explorer in Kit Carson... its a great way to burn off a few calories from the Taos Diner. Its very convenient to downtown and many of the other attractions... has a good sized outdoor stage for events too.

We visited the park to see what the Music Festival was about, but it was not very busy and was an OK venue. There are some neat shops around the park that are worth walking around and seeing.

An all-purpose park located just blocks from the historic Taos Plaza. In the middle of the park you will find a quaint little cemetery which serves as the final resting place for the famous Kit Carson & Governer Bent among others. There's no cost and the cemetery is not particularly well maintained, but placques posted throughout the area are informative. If you appreciate history, you will enjoy this. The recreational areas of the park are about what you would expect, parking is free, but restrooms are outhouses...so avoid using them if you can. Other than that ther are ample tables and areas to relax.

No, it isn't big and grand, no Spanish moss hanging from monster oak trees, manicured lawns and songs sung by Elvis in the background. Instead, you have what is representative of an early frontier cemetery and park that bears Kit Carson's name, and his earthly remains, along with members of his family. You can hear the fandangos in the background, see the swirling skirts of the young ladies stamping out to the beat of the guitars, the crack of a whip and the creak of a wooden wagon arriving from the other destinations along the trace. In this park, it is personal, private and historical.

Nice place to stretch your legs when travelling through or in Taos. Playground is adequate but a little dated and worn. The toilets were absolutely revolting! We snuck into the church by the park and used their toilet instead. We always stop here when we are town but if you want a unique play experience visit the Twirl toystore just a short bit down the road from Kit Carson Park.
