No name that most people would recognize. So no big deal? Wrong. It's a great collection of interesting paintings and photos. Lots of variety, modern in one room, another built for seven by one artist, pueblo and Indian, abstract, you name it. My wife described it all as "folksy and colorful". Don't miss the weird shrine of Ken Price and right across, the preserved stucco from the original house, with the pueblo-style ladder that served as the emergency exit!

“Worth a Visit”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

Very interesting large collection of photographs of the Pueblo and life in Taos during that time. There are elevators if you can't do the steps inside the museum. Stay away from the large gallery if kids are there. Way too noisy. Not the Harwood's fault, of course.

“Wonderful museum and home in 1800 building”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

This large museum was once the home of the Harwoods, who were artists and photographers in Taos in the early part of the 1900s. The museum is magnificent with a beautiful interior and displays a great deal of art work from Taos and New Mexico including much work of Hispanic artists. There are about 17 pieces by the wonderful wood carver Barelas, santos by Golan, Native American art by Maria Martinez and Cordero. The museum is part of the North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) and membership in one of those musems allows for free entry into the Harwood. There is also a combination ticket for $25 that allows entrance into all 5 of the Taos museums, good for one year--not a bad deal. Do not miss this excellent museum.

“Loved it!”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

We were there during a special exhibit which drew you into the daily lives of the Harwoods and their friends and family. The way that the museum is laid out makes the art feel personal and approachable. I would definitely return to this museum.
