“Family Festival!!!!”
Reviewed 4 July 2013 via mobile

Family of six no problem. This is a great food, hot food and great service resturant. In a time when corporate food service is slap it and push it out asap, it is refreshing to go yo a family owned and run business. Oh and btw that's how they serve, very family driven. With family style plates to the hot food coming out of the kitchen. Great Food! Great Price! Great Family!!

High quality Asian food. Good prices and super quick, friendly service. I recommend this restaurant over all other Asian restaurants in the Taos area

“Excellent”
Reviewed 4 June 2013

My friend took me to Yu Garden and recommended the Walnut Chicken. We also got snowpeas and water chestnuts as a side dish because the mild flavors wouldn't conflict with the chicken. OMG it was good. The chicken was lightly breaded and deep fried, with an orange sauce that was just sweet enough, topped with walnuts and surrounded by orange slices. It was quite wonderful. The snow peas were fresh and crisp, the sauce nicely flavored. With the white rice that normally came with the chicken, it was a perfect meal. I was impressed. Never expected really good Chinese food in Taos.

“Very good Chinese cooking and service”
Reviewed 3 June 2013

Being tired of Mexican, my wife and i had early Sunday dinner at Yu's and were not disappointed.

The interior is not fancy, and was obviously some other type of restaurant before......clean and tidy though. We were seated promptly. We ordered spring rolls, which were home made a crispy. We had hot and sour soup, which was lighter than normal....not dark in color, not to too hot, not sour, but none the less very good.....almost like an egg drop embellished with vegetables and a tinge of hotness. For entrees i had kung pao shrimp, and my wife had mooshu pork. Both were excellent...good sauces, plenty of crispy vegetables, good big shrimp in mine, lots of pork in her's.

My wife said it rekindled her faith in Chinese food after a couple of recent disappointments. This was not San Francisco...there were no exotic ingredients or fancy preparations, but the quality of the ingredients was high, and the cooking technique was very good. We have eaten a lot of Chinese food, and were pleasantly surprised. The woman who owns the place was a joy, and the service was excellent

“Some competition for Hunan's”
Reviewed 17 May 2013

Since Hunan's has been around forever and is totally consistent in the '3 star food always the same' niche, it was a good sign when Yu opened up almost next door. Some of their food is better than Hunan and they have a decent Japanese lunch, although Hatori across town is much better.

The Hot and Sour and other expected lunch extras are pretty bad, but the lunch entrees range from good to pretty darn good. The Salmon Teriyaki is under 10 bucks....that's an Omega 3 Mega steal if there ever was one. The service is more unpredictable than Hunan's but they get the job done. The whole tone is the opposite of Hunan's. Hopefully both places will push eachother to take it up a notch.
