“Beware of Truchas”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Yep, it's all that the other reviews claim. Great views, galleries and small towns. But beware, the artists in Truchas have removed certain route signs so you go straight down a road which dead ends ( or turns to dirt) but before, it takes you by many of their galleries that you would miss if you turned left on 76 in the middle of town. If you hit speed bumps(really, out here?), you went too far.

“Most scenic road in America”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Every time I go to New MExico, this road must be traveled. The 360 degree views are magnificent. You get mountains, dotted hills, rock formations, big sky, wonderful clouds. On this trip we even found a lake--Santa Cruz lake. Follow the dirt road to the campground and you will be astounded by the views.

“breathtaking views”

What a wonderful way to head south from Taos. The views are amazing, row after row of mountain tops. Great small towns along the way.

“If you have the time, this is the way to get from Santa Fe to Taos.”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

If you have the time, or even better can make the time, this is a the classic "road not taken". Get off the 4 lane black top and enjoy the views and galleries on the High Road. Be sure to check their website or get a map to see all of the gallery options. One word of advice, eat in either Santa Fe or Taos as there are only a few options on the High Road for lunch and the options are better in SF or Taos.

“Slow and beautiful”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

If you have an extra day, try this route. We had to bypass most of the interesting stops, but still enjoyed the view.
