As long as you don't go too often, the shops around the Plaza area are fun. Just not a lot of "new" stuff between frequent visits, so you can grow tired of the sameness.

There's not much here other than lots of tourist shops all selling the same items all way over-priced.

While this plaza has a lot of history, it is mainly for those who want to look in small shops. We have been in many other area with much nicer plazas. If you are in town, you may want to take a stroll around, especially if you want to shop. The people are very friendly and helpful. It almost made me want to buy something in every shop.

You can feel the history of Old Taos and Kit Carson oozing out of every corner and crevice of old Taos Plaza. Completely ringed by eclectic shops and anchored by the arch typical plaza with gazebo, it is a great place to just sit and people watch. Be sure to visit the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory nearby and the Plaza Cafe at La Fonda Hotel. The only negative is the Parking Meters! I wonder how much busier Taos Plaza would be if there was free parking! Maybe the Plaza Merchants could purchase the Parking Meters from the City!

This green space is rather small, but a nice place to recline in the grass. The green space is surrounded by expensive, frou frou shops. There is free WiFi in the plaza and at least one electrical outlet in the gazebo. Food Not Bombs might still serve free food here on Saturdays.
