This was one of the finest properties we have ever booked. I don't think I've seen a hotel that was more expensively put together. The room was very good looking with a fireplace, large bathroom, interesting furnishings and a small patio. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, as well as, an important part of the setting. The staff was pleasant and tried to be helpful-- particularly the valets.
The restaurants (bar, casual and dining rooms) were nice places that each did well. There are lots of decent, or better, eating places in Taos, so we weren't in a hurry to book a high price dinner at the El Monte. Instead, we started with cocktails and heavy snacks. That was well done, so we had breakfast the next day, which was excellent. We decided to have dinner and were impressed. The chef (chefs) was excellent as was the bartender.
We will definitely stay at the El Monte next time we're in the area.More
