Description: Lambert's of Taos is a family-owned full service, upscale establishment serving Contemporary American cuisine with northern New Mexican influences in an elegant but relaxed setting. We are one of the few establishments in town that serves cocktails in addition to beer and wine. Upstairs we have the Treehouse Bar and Lounge for those not in the mood for linen tablecloths and looking for a cool, classy, and eclectic hangout with well-versed bartenders and inviting prices. During our Happy Hour (2:30 - 6:00), everything on our Happy Hour menu is $6.

First time we've eaten in Lambert's since they changed locations. I love the new restaurant - a beautiful restoration/renovation that has clean lines and a good atmosphere. There are several small rooms which add an intimacy to the restaurant that was not possible in the old location. We had just arrived in Taos on our way to the ski valley when we dropped in without a reservation. No problem. Most of the meal would be hard to beat anywhere. Appetizers included a melt in your mouth cornmeal dusted calamari with chipotle aioli and a delicious mushroom risotto. Main courses were a unique beef stroganoff with noodles and the most tender buffalo tenderloin I have ever eaten. It was served with mashed sweet potatoes with blue cheese, a blueberry demi-glaze and sauteed kale with bacon. I'm still dreaming about the flavours. The cinnamon brioche bread pudding was perfection. The only thing that was less than superb was the triple chocolate mousse cake, though I did manage to eat the whole thing... Looking forward to my next meal there.

Lambert's in its former location along the main street was, in my opinion, probably the best restaurant in New Mexico. The former location had an elegance about it that they have not been able to recapture in the current location near the Plaza. The interior of the new location is somewhat austere. However, the patio is delightful and we ate there three times, once for lunch, once for dinner having the bar menu and on the third occasion having the formal menu on the patio. The service on all three occasions was excellent with the waitstaff attentive and friendly. Our lunch and bar menu hamburgers were delicious. I understand that the chef is the same chef as at the former location. However, the salads were not as good as in the past and we had a chicken dish (Free Range Chicken Roulade) which was rather bland and accompanied by a somewhat discordant tomato sauce. The wines were good but highly priced. This restaurant is expensive even by the standards of Santa Fe. It remains the best restaurant in Taos. However, they have some catching up to do to regain their undoubted five star status in their former location.

What a wonderful experience! Lambert's has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with friendly and attentive staff and the food was very fresh. The beet salad was delicious, with fresh greens, creamy cheese and an ample portion of beets. Although we'd ordered medium rare filets they were prepared medium, and as soon as we brought this to the attention of the staff they handled the situation very well and brought us two new complete plates with steaks cooked to perfection.

Definitely make reservations and ask for seating on the patio. A lovely meal all around.

I'm a local and have been going to Lambert's for years. It's always been one of my favorite restaurants here in Taos. But something is really wrong in their kitchen. The ambience is lovely, the servers try hard and are darling, but the wait time is terrible. The table cloth was dirty, the table was slanted and they hadn't tried to level it. We waited 45 minutes for a shrimp cocktail, a salad and risotto (which had to have been be made ahead of time). We finally had to leave without eating because our meal never arrived. This is not the first time -- the kitchen must be so screwed up.
We are so disappointed and are not going to recommend it any longer to our guests (we have vacation rentals).
