When we're in Taos for a few days, we like to have lunch at Doc Martin's not just for the food but also for being in the historic Taos Inn watching the activity on the Paseo del Pueblo right outside the windows. There are several good choices on the lunch menu. We've never been there for dinner, but we can definitely say we enjoy our lunches there.

While we enjoyed Doc Martin's and the food was good, we had a few issues with a server who was a bit too casual and some of the food we received was served late and was not as hot as it should have been.

In the historicTaos Inn, Doc Martin's has cuisine at the edge of fine dining with classic Northern New Mexican dishes and risky but delicious ones like rattlesnake and rabbit sausage. The full bar and wine selection complement a menu with meat as well as seafood. The patrons are often quite engaging, and the manager takes an interest in his guests. We have dined here since the early 1990s for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners; we have rarely been disappointed.
In the evening music from the entertainers at the Adobe Bar drifts in to give a sense of being in a place to which a person would wish to return.
