My husband and I happened to spot the Downtown Bistro when we were in Taos and were a bit hungry for a light lunch. It was late for lunch and there was only one other table occupied as well as some patrons at the bar. We were promptly seated and our server came immediately with water and a list of specials. She was so enthusiastic about the Chicken Panni and said it was large enough to share, so we ordered it. Meanwhile, she had brought delicious warm bread. There was oil and vinegar on the table, but she stopped by to let us know there was also a bar of special flavored oils we could taste. My husband went and chose one with peppers that had a flavor so good we ended up dipping our sandwich in it, too. The panni was delicious, made with real roasted chicken, cheese and roasted pepper. It came with greens on the side and fries. The service was really good. We were visiting Taos on vacation, so unfortunately we won't be able to go back to try other menu options, but if we could we definitely would.

We were really delighted by the food and the atmosphere. It's a very pleasant, high quality but unpretentious and reasonably priced place.

Eaten everywhere in Taos and love the Downtown Bistro! Savory and succulent are two adjectives that come to mind to describe the food. The atmosphere is elegant, service is superb, and the prices are reasonable. Dont miss it. H

Five women had lunch and all agreed the restaurant was delightful. It started with the olive oil bar complete with olives, etc., for dipping your bread. I had the butternut squash ravioli special. Excellent. A glass of Pinot Grigio topped off the lunch.
