“A special evening”
Reviewed 3 December 2013

It was just before Thanksgiving and there was snow and ice on the ground. We had made reservations and were startled to find ourselves the only people in this delightful restaurant even though we knew it was a slow time in Taos. The owner made it so special for us and the food was fabulous. We shared a lovely goat cheese salad. I had steak and shrimp and my husband had a delicious Spanish seafood stew that we were able to have for lunch the next day. When we unpacked the leftovers, the owner had given us huge slices of his terrific bread. Other people came in just as we were leaving but we will always remember the delight of having the place to ourselves with our own waiter and chef.

“Outstanding!!”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

Well prepared and presented food with great service and a small but interesting wine list make for a great evening. The warm pear and spinach salad was very tasty and the two entrees we had were very good. All were fairly priced and worth the trip. You should not miss this place when in Taos!

“Number one in my book!”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

This restaurant is exactly what I would call perfect. It is small, intimate, and the food is to die for! It is not fancy, but the fire and the lightening is perfect for conversation. The food presentation is also well thought out! Don't miss this one!

“Understated and wonderful”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

We've had a house in Taos for years and Byzantium is just around the corner. We don't often eat there, but did so last night and it was perfect. Scott, the owner, greets all the guests and makes them feel right at home. Everything on the menu is freshly prepared and great quality; served in a quiet, lovely ambience. Nice wine list too!

“Don't miss this one!”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

We went here our first night in Toas - it was absolutely amazing! The food here matches the best in any big city. Be prepared for a surprise when you walk in - it's small, cozy, and not fancy-looking. But be prepared for a bigger surprise when you taste the food! From the beautiful presentation to the last bite - it's all awesome. The home-made bread (with great marmalade), the tasty salad, and the perfectly-presented steak/prawns dinner that I ordered were wonderful. I have just one word of advice for you - if you're in Taos more that one night, go here first. You'll probably do what we did - went back the second night (and I loved the pork, too)! (They're closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so plan ahead!)
