“Beautiful communal spaces and delicious breakfast!”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Casa Benavides has amazing communal spaces - the outdoor patios, the breakfast area, the lounge and the kitchen are just beautiful spaces and really tastefully decorated. The rooms themselves are great - comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. I also can't say enough about the breakfast - super filling and delicious. They have a cold breakfast and a hot breakfast that come out in succession. The hot breakfast is made to order. The only criticism I have is that they should have told me that in addition to the granola, fruit, and muffins - they also had a hot breakfast so I could pace my food intake!! Lovely stay and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Taos!

This was our first visit to both Taos and Casa Benavides, and it certainly won't be our last! Casa Benavides is located within the central historic district, and is within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Our room was in the restored Victorian house, and was really spacious, lovely and very well appointed. The bed was fabulous, and one of our favorite features was the screen door, which allowed us to sleep with the main door open and a lovely breeze coming in. Wonderful sky lights had also been installed bringing in lots of extra light; very well done! The included breakfast was great, featuring Mexican eggs with salsa, as well as freshly home made muffins and jams. Definitely a keeper!

Room Tip: We will definitely ask for the Victorian house when making our next reservation. Lovely surrounding...

Casa Benavides is conveniently located just a block from the main plaza in Taos. There is enough free parking all around the hotel. Breakfast was included in our rate and the food and service was very good. Our guest room was comfortable, but the bathroom was a bit small for a couple. We've become accustom to more counter top space for our toiletries. Even though breakfast is served, across the street is Caffe Tazza, where they can brew up a stronger cup of coffee to get your morning caffeine fix. Around the corner is the Taos Inn which has a fun bar and lounge. I think we'd stay here again, but I'd ask to see if there is a guest room with a larger bathroom. My $0.02.

Room Tip: When making a reservation, and if traveling as a couple, see if they have guest rooms with larger ba...

As part of a big road trip for 4 Brits, we wanted to see some smaller towns and taos fit the bill! Casa benavides was chosen based on price and location, very close to the square and galleries but cheaper than staying in the square. The 2rooms we had were both amazing, ours had a full kitchen and gorgeous living space, great for the price! It's not a sterile box but full of NM charm and artefacts. Our ground floor room had a small patio, not private but great for a drink and a cigarette before dinner. Slightly marred by some very noisy and competitive people shouting across their patios but hey I can be noisy too! Parking outside the room a bonus and a five minute walk to the square.
Breakfast table was a work of art and food just kept coming. Brilliant.
My only criticism was that a couple of the staff members were a little unwelcoming even though I tried hard to engage them they seemed to have several jobs to do at one time.
We had the Iglesias room and would love to stay again!

Room Tip: All the rooms look great from what I saw

It is just a short walk to the central area of Taos. The rooms are spacious, clean, well appointed and comfortable. There are New Mexico style rooms and "Victorian" rooms. Suit your taste. The main building has interesting art and is beautifully furnished. The breakfast is substantial and delicious. The afternoon "tea" is a cake, pastry and cookie-holics paradise. You can definitely expand your waistline in this B&B. The staff is courteous and helpful. While this is a B&B, it is more reminiscent of a small elegant hotel. I say that because, many regular B&B patrons expect the intimate host/guest experience. While the owners walk about and chat at breakfast, most of the time you will see and deal with paid staff. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Don't skip the afternoon "tea" if you have a sweet tooth. The goodies available are s...

lovely place to stay in Taos. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Delicious breakfast and beautiful kitchen. They said they didn't accept discounts and special offers, though clearly they have one on this site. Attempted to check in Taos, though Internet connection on the phone wasn't working.

We wanted a nice and clean place to stay close to the square in Taos so we could walk down every day. This is the spot. The room was clean and reflected the history of Taos in the fireplace, ceiling and flooring. The skylight over the bed (Jemez Room) woke us early, but that was fine for use. Breakfast was wonderful, home made granola, fruit and yogurt or milk, sometimes fresh muffins, and then a hot breakfast if you wanted. Tea at 3:00 included freshly baked cakes, cookies, bars - probably eight different choices, with tea and lemonade. Just a delightful experience all around. We didn't try the hot tub, but enjoyed our morning coffee by the fountain one morning. We will stay there again for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't have a skylight over the bed if you would like to sleep in
