My husband, daughter and I stayed for two nights. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice size bathroom (two sinks, which made things much easier). Brad made us two wonderful breakfasts. I had contacted him prior to our arrival to let him know about a food issue with my husband and Brad was more than willing to accommodate him. They were delicious, and filling breakfasts. We would definitely recommend the Touchstone Inn.

The bed was extremely warm, comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed and everyone was kind and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Taos Pizza Outback andThe Love Apple are within walking distance and very good. A long walk or short drive takes you to Taos Plaza full of shops and restaurants.

We have stayed at many B&B's in Taos and this for us is by far the finest. The Inn's keepers Brad and Amber are excellent hosts and both talented chefs, homemade bacon, sausage and baked goods with soufflé or omelet, what a treat. Touchstone, the Inn and the grounds are lovely. Our room was authentic with furnishings and Kiva fireplace and beautiful Taos art. The entire Inn is graced with beautiful works by Bren Price, Amber's mother renowned Taos artist. Brad & Amber suggested several places to dine and were helpful with local activities. No place to improve, Taos perfection for our get away. Will return soon!

Room Tip: Be sure to have a room with a wood burning Kiva fireplace.

I stayed in "The Cielo" Room for 4 nights for a ski trip. The room was very comfortable & the soaking tub in the room was great. Breakfast was creative & delicious, and Brad and Amber were wonderful hosts. Make sure you try Love Apple while you're there, it's right next door & amazing.

This is a great place, and Brad and Amber are wonderful hosts and great cooks( as in chefs). We were upgraded by these nice people and wound up in a great room upstairs with a semi-private deck, a Kiva fireplace and beautiful views. The home has elegant frontier ambience and a resident artist. We will do this again.

Room Tip: Pick the upstairs rooms if you can do stairs. They also have a large warm great room to meet your fe...

My wife and I stayed four nights at the Touchstone Inn this October and I could not imagine a better place to stay in Taos. The property is beautiful, several acres which back directly up to the Taos Pueblo lands, and has a central place in the history of the Taos area, having been originally one of the homes owned by Mabel Dodge Lujan and frequented by many of her artist friends (I didn't know any of this part of the Taos area history before going, but learned about it from our hosts over the course of our stay). We stayed in the Lawrence room (named for DH Lawrence), but had the opportunity to see the inside of another room as well, the Cielo. I would stay in either of these rooms on a return visit, in a heartbeat. The Lawrence is one of the larger rooms, and has a comfy king bed, corner wood burning adobe fireplace, separate bathroom with two sinks and a jetted tub/shower, and a large walk-in closet that also has a mini-fridge and microwave. It also has a tiny separate bedroom with a twin bed -- which would be good for a child or if your spouse is snoring too loudly :) It has a patio with a private entrance, as well as a door to access the interior of the house and common areas such as the kitchen, living room, and sunroom/gallery/breakfast area.

The Touchstone is also the home and studio of Bren Price, an accomplished artist and author who settled on the property 30 or so years ago. Many of her pieces grace the walls of the rooms in the Touchstone and the sunroom where you eat breakfast also serves as a gallery space. We ended up coming home with a limited serigraph print and a book of her art and poetry, and had the opportunity to spend some time with her in her studio.

Amber and Brad Gordon are Bren's daughter and son-in-law, and the current innkeepers. They are as much the reason that we will return to the Touchstone as the beautiful grounds and comfortable rooms. They are just genuinely nice people who clearly love what they are doing. They are both gourmet chefs, and worked in the restaurant industry prior to taking over the management of the Touchstone, so this is one B&B where you don't want to miss breakfast! Our breakfasts were typically two courses, with Amber providing a little bit of a sweet appetizer and Brad following on with the main breakfast course. Although breakfast is included with your room, Brad and Amber can also create a custom evening dining experience in the private dining room which is just off the kitchen, for an additional charge. After a couple of breakfasts that rivaled or exceeded anything I have had in five star restaurants, we asked them if they had time to prepare a dinner for us on our last night there. They are happy to work closely with their guests to plan a menu, but we wanted to be surprised so just gave a general idea of the type of cuisine we were interested in, budget, and dietary restrictions (we don't eat beef). Together they created a wonderful four course meal (shrimp taco appetizer, tomato pinon salad, pork tenderloin with spicy mole sauce, spanish rice, sauteed squash, and strawberry tres leches cake for dessert) that was exquisite and left me full but wanting more :)

The Touchstone is a little north of the main part of town, but it is a short drive and at least at this time of year, parking was not difficult in town. It is also incredibly convenient to the Taos Pueblo, which any visit to Taos should include. It is located directly behind the Love Apple restaurant, so you can walk to dinner at one of the best places in Taos. We ate there twice. Our other dinner was at El Meze, which has also got to be one of the better restaurant meals I've ever had. It is just up the road about 1/4 mile.

The Touchstone is one of those places where your pulse just seems to slow down and after a day or two, you feel perfectly at home and don't want to leave. Brad and Amber are very attentive and helpful hosts, from making restaurant recommendations and reservations to providing suggestions and guidance on activities in the Taos area. They are also really great people to talk with and get to know, when they aren't busy with one of the million tasks, large to small, that make up the business of keeping up a smoothly running, high quality inn.
