I spent 10 nights at this hotel as part of a Habitat for Humanity build. This property is very well past it's prime and is poorly maintained. Daily room cleaning was spotty as best...forgot us 3 out of the first five nights! Breakfasts were bare bones. I will never stay at this hotel again even though it is very inexpensive. Best thing I can say is that the wifi worked well!

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Thanks also for supporting Habitat Taos! Sorry we didn't meet your needs. We've worked with Habitat for years and your groups expected a bit more than some of their younger groups. We've made major changes since your visit and hope we better meet your needs next time you're in Taos.

This motel is close to the Taos Plaza, has reasonable rates, and the bed was very good. That's all of the good news. Upon entering the room after check-in, all of the towels had been used, even though the bed was made. On the third day, the room had not seen a maid at 4:00 p.m. She did service the room after being called at home to return to the job. The office people tried to be helpful, but succeeded only partially. Amenities do not exist. No coat hangers, bad coffee maker, unappealing breakfast, and a general feeling of a tired property. This place could be a candidate for Gordon Ramsey's "Hotel Hell."

We appreciate you taking the time to writie a review. Sorry we failed to provide a room that met your requirements. The lack of completeness and cleanliness of your room is not acceptable. Since your stay, we've made a number of changes aimed 100% at improving the Guest experience. We've just changed part of our housekeeping team and improved the leadership part to provide what most Guests expect, clean, complete, and comfortable accommodations. Clearly, we took too long to make management & housekeeping changes. Hope you'll consider giving us a try again in the future. See you soon!

This place was very nice, clean and had a wonderful staff. They upgraded our room (always like when that happens!). The grounds were simply beautiful. The breakfast was a little dull, have had much better, frozen waffles and no fruit, but it filled the bill.

While this hotel is clean and is a convenient location the riff raff that is allowed to stay there made our trip more than uncomfortable. We were on motorcycles and from the time we pulled to our room until we left the next day we were uncomfortable with our belongings. At first glance, the hotel seemed ok...certainly was clean and beds were comfortable but... We were immediately approached by a hotel guest to bum a cigarette while observing a few not so trustworthy individuals. Locked our rooms and double checked locks on bikes, turned on TV to make room look occupied and went to dinner on foot. Stella's was awesome for food. At 1:30 a.m. out of a dead sleep we were awakened by a knock on our door from the room upstairs saying they wanted to give us a credit card in exchange for cash as their wife, an employee of the hotel, was in trouble and they needed cash. Ironically we were the only couple out of five that paid cash for our room. We made the hotel front desk aware of this inconvenience upon check out. Breakfast yogurt was the only thing we could eat and had to heat the coffee up in the microwave at breakfast.

Room Tip: Courtyard room is where we stayed view of pool and outdoor fire place

We appreciate you writing a review. Sorry for the riff raff. We've removed most of the loong term Guests who seemed to be crap magnets. While the added cash flow was nice, the negatives out weighed the cash flow. Thanks for your business and comments. We do isten and work towards meeting our Guest's needs! Ski you soon! Kachina Peak awaits!

Indian Hills Inn, Taos, NM

I was a little wary booking here based on mixed Trip Advisor reviews. I'm glad I followed through with the booking. Reading some prior reviews makes me wonder if we were talking about the same hotel. I was very comfortable and satisfied with the Indian Hills Inn and appreciated the central location.

Check in was friendly and fast. Despite prepaying through online booking site, I was given an upgrade to a King Deluxe Room on the center courtyard.

A mini fridge and microwave are available for $15/night. The room was very nice. It was large, nicely decorated and had a relaxing view out onto the grassy courtyard under a couple of trees which provided a great deal of shade. The King bed was comfortable and the furnishings were nice. The room was slightly worn (a couple of marks on the wall here and there, and the tub showed a few signs of age) but it was pleasant enough.

The room included a gas log fireplace/heater for Winter. The AC worked well. Wifi offered 3 free networks and was solid. Unlike other reviewers, I did not have any lingering cigarette odors in my room. The location is just South of Taos Plaza, well within walking distance. Restaurants and other necessities are also close as is a good, chain grocery store with liquor and wine. I never had any concerns about safety and felt comfortable out on the courtyard patio at night.

The hotel was quiet and comfortable with friendly, helpful service. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: A King Deluxe room on the courtyard is a good option and worth the upgrade price.

No phone in the room. Office closes at 10 pm. They will not answer the phone, just the door. If there is someone outside the room (and there was), you cannot get help. Awake all night. Spoke with morning staff. I learned that many of the rooms are without phones, and the others don't work.
Also, rooms are old and hard to clean. A/C noisy.

First, thanks for taking the time to share your review. I apologize for the lack of a phone in the room and not meeting your needs. Sorry we were nearly full and couldn't move you to the newer deluxe single king rooms. Should you visit Taos again and we're lucky enough that you try us again, we'll upgrade you to the deluxe for free.
