Stayed here one week early October 2013. Room was great size/layout with all necessary amenities and equipment for self-catering. Cleaning was regular and very satisfactory. Fantastic view. It was clear that some refurbishment work was ongoing in some rooms and being late in the British season there were a few things around the pool area that would have needed some attention.
Did not use the restaurant or bar (there are some brilliant places on the beach just 10 minutes away), did not spend any time at the pool (why would you when the beach is so close?), did not come back for the entertainment (but did hear it from a distance a few nights) - so can't really comment on any of that. Did use the shop - well stocked, sensible prices and great staff. Also needed some help from reception staff - very professional and caring.
So, if you go all-inclusive here with a family group/children I think you would enjoy it. If you are going as a couple on self-catering, and looking for a quieter time, then this is a great base to stay in Amadores. But make sure you ask the hotel in advance for a quieter room (block B or C and as far away from reception as you can get, even though this results in a 5/6 minute walk and two separate lifts!).More
