“If your on a tight budget still stay elsewhere.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2012

The room looked clean and it was quiet, almost too much. When I arrived after ringing the bell several times I got out my cell phone to call to get assistance at the front desk. That brought 2 women scampering in to be told the room wasn't finished being clean give then 15 more min, really it was 4:30 pm what were they doing? When the room was ready we could see all the doors were open but ours and they hadn't cleaned any. Did I miss the big party that had the staff sleeping til we arrived? The room was clean but with paper thin pillows and a bouncy bed that was better than most trampolines I didn't get much sleep. The free breakfast was, well free. Hard boiled egg, 1 type of cereal, banana or orange, toast or make it yourself waffles with a waffle maker. With awful OJ, milk or coffee, not even water. We were staying there on the way from TX to Colorado and was supposed to stay again on the way back but I canceled the return trip reservation!

Room Tip: go elsewhere

We stayed here on our way to Albuquerque. We rolled in late and we're just looking for a place to get a few hours sleep.

The hotel is old and slightly worn but its clean and cheap. We were treated well by the manager, when we arrived late. The next morning they had a decent little breakfast bar.

I wouldn't stay here for any extended stays, but overnight its fine.

I thought this room was ok and was planning on staying at this hotel again on my next trip. After we left my husband and I both found bug bites around our waists. We just thought they were mosquito bites. To my horror I had carried bed bugs home and kept getting bit. They took over a month and multiple spraying to get rid of. When I checked photos of bed bug bites on the internet and realized what the bites were, I called the hotel and told them to check the room we had stayed in so no one else would go thru what we had. He told me that since they hadn't had any other complaints the room didn't have bed bugs without even looking. All I can say is he doesn't care if the rooms have bugs or not, just deny it. We have never seen or been bit by bed bugs before and this was the only hotel we stayed in on this trip.

Room Tip: If you want to take a chance on getting bed bugs this is the hotel for you. We were in the 4th room...

Tucumcari is a small New Mexico town that has probably seen better days. There are many shuttered businesses in the town. This Econo Lodge was really more than I expected. It was less expensive than staying in Amarillo, so the extra 100 miles or so was worth it.

The owner is very friendly. Since the Denny's next door has been closed now for years, he is always happy when folks show up. The room was nice and clean and very comfortable. The price difference, especially if you are driving weest, is well worth it. Much cheaper than anything in Amarillo.

We didn't even stay at this hotel and I consider it to be the worst managed hotel in the country. We booked a room at 9PM while leaving Fort Worth for a family emergency in Albuquerque. My wife and I planned to drive until Tucumcari and rest for a few hours. However, an hour into our drive, we get a call and are told we don't have time to stop and have to get to Albuquerque ASAP. We call to cancel our reservation and get the worst service from Roger the "general manager". Our room was booked for less than an hour, and we were told we still had to pay a cancellation fee. Most decent hotel companies will be understanding and at least listen to you when you talk, rather than be like Roger and proclaim "Hey buddy, I'm giving you a break". I guess in such a small town there are only a handful of people capable of answering a phone and cleaning a toilet, in Tucumcari that man is Roger. If you can, drive all the way to Santa Rosa. Or stop in Amarillo and keep your dollars in Texas. And if you do stay at this hotel, or any of the other Choice Hotel properties, don't expect decent customer service if you have a problem. Their customer relations department will take your call, but then email you and tell you that "every hotel is independently owned and operated" which means, screw you sucker. Stay somewhere else if you value your money and your dignity.

The location is easy to be found; the staff is nice. However; there are no shampoo available! Besides, the sink does not drain well... Yet, air conditioner is working well; it is cheaper when compared to other two star hotel; i would say not bad for a stay.
