“What an amazing little place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2013

Welcomed by friendly staff members whom took us through the entire process Mr De Beer drives to produce his 3 Ale's - Enjoyed tasting each of his Ale's as well as the company of their dog, Mac, who made our returned trips x 2 just to give him some drywors so worthwhile :)

“We always stop here first....”

This is always our first stop when we get to dullstroom. Great place to sit and watch the cars go by while sampling their beers and waiting for check-in time at wherever you are staying.

“Don't miss this”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2012

On the left as you drive north out of Dullstroom is the Anvil Brewery. It's small, but it's a 'don't miss' on my radar.
Welcomed by an offer, you couldn't refuse, to sample the choice of three ales with a brief description of each we settled down to enjoy the very friendly hospitality. Coming from England Anvil Ale was a gold mine discovery amongst the usual lager beers of South Africa. Blonde Ale, Pale Ale and last but not least a Wit Beer called 'Bookoo'. Having been a lover of Wheat beer for many years this was a delicious twist on a familiar theme. By introducing Buchu leaves there's a subtle change in taste, that isn't too everyones liking, but definitely was to mine.
Highly recommend whiling away an afternoon here, before staying the night in Dullstroom. Or, bring a teetotaller to drive.
There's wine available and you can buy to take away also.
Anvil Ale is run by Theo de Beer - appropriately enough!

The most beautiful building in Dullstroom. Ale for the boys and good Lavazza coffee for the ladies.
