Oh, what can I say about this place? Well, for one the owners are great. Chatting with Leon is a blast, he is a funny guy and one of the more interesting persons we met. The guesthouse is stuffed with memorabilia from all ages and it also holds a bar (one that is filled to the rim with bottles and the earlier mentioned memorabilia. On the other side of the road there is a garden that is part of Tradouw where Priscilla, the pig, can be found. She is also the main attraction of Barrydale, next to the brandy that you can buy there. Barrydale is a quiet Karoo town where in itself there is not a lot of things happening. One exception is there: there is a restaurant close to the guesthouse on the R63, it is great. Beautiful food, a real treat. The surroundings lend itself for great hikes. Breakfast is good, the rooms are nice. The garden facing rooms are a little bigger. The reason to stay the night here are the hosts and the restaurant at the R63. That and quietness.
