Please put a sign on the road saying "welcome and come in"
We almost turned and left, but for the wonderful employee who confirmed, " yes there is a shop behind the hedge down the track and yes it is open and yes we are welcome to visit.
Reception inside - perfect.

Thank Walterglennie

It is always so much nicer to come wine tasting and shopping here than in Stellenbosch and Franschoek as the owners and staff is friendly and down to earth. Here you feel welcome and not out of place between people who are competing in who is the most posh. In addition, the wines are actually even better here! The ports are of course famous but the wines are just as delicious. I always leave with a box or two and will always return when in this end of the world... Boplaas is by far the best of the Calitzdorp wineries, although the other ones are not bad either, especially some of their dessert wines.

Worth going to Calitzdorp which is 50 kms east of Oudtshorn in Garden route country. Find Boplass wines and ask for a taste of their port. Buy he 2008 or 2009 quickly as he price may soon shoot up and lay it down for 20 years if you can manage it. Leon is very knowledgable about many things including Port and he Duoro, South African cricket and England. Top guy. Buy now as we did before the world gets to know.

Friendly, well trained tasting assistants. Good value wines, especially the "soetes"- ports and muscadels.
