You have'n been in heaven? We did! Villa the Cherry is the place to be: quite, a wonderful feeling, luxury on top, nature you have never seen, great sea-sunsets...
You have to come and see! Words are not enough for this beatiful place on the rocks in front of the ocean! We come back next year!
Villa The Cherry is special : It is located at the other end from the Hermanus Bay - the end of Walker Bay, a 18 km long beach where, even at the peak of the season, you will find peace and a big nature reserve. The villa is located at the end of a small village, where everyone cares for one others and everyone will great you while you go by. It's a place were we felt totally secure. The villa is an ingenious construction, that grants nearly total privacy and it's overlooking the ocean; you will close your eyes with the great sea-sunset and wake up with the gentle sound of the waves, the songs of the wind and the joyful birds. At the next village, you will find the best fish of your life.. just for you a kingflip or a full yellow tail, yummi! 20 min away, you can even go swimming with horses on Pearly Beach! It's the ideal place if you are looking for a private retreat, far away from the crowd but still with a village life at your fingers'tip. Lovely location for nature lovers that likes the comfort of a splendid home. So glad we could stay there!
Phantastic view outside, spacious interior with all amenities to have a phantastic holiday. Close to shops and restaurants, quiet, and in the season, whales in abundance.
Well euipped large kitchen, washing machine and dryer downstairs, and also two mountainbikes and 2 golfstets.
Within a reasonable distance form Ernie Else's Golfestate for lunch, and closer by, only until Easter Sunday 2018, advance booking strongly recommended, the wonderful cooking of Marianas's in Stanford
we had a wonderful time - great location. great views with whales for breakfast. Gorgeous walks along Walker bay and I recommend to take the mountainbikes, available in the house, and go to gansbaai Vismar - get a line fish ( kabeljau if available ) get back on your bike - cook simple and enjoy with some white wine of your choice....hard life
The gorgeous Villa, its caringly reliable Belgian owner Annick de Smedt (villacherry@icloud.com), and sweetheart Michele Christians, the local manageress at Gansbaai (michelec@vodamail.co.za), made more of our wishes come true, than we actually thought we had.
For our birthdays we rented Villa The Cherry for a week, a dream villa on a cliff directly at the shore overlooking Walker Bay, with 180 degrees of unobstructed first row vantage sea view, even from "the pot" and the bathtub, to celebrate us, our birthdays and life in general with style and splendour, whilst the gentle giants of the sea danced their Grand Pas de Deux for us. Between July and December migrating whales arrive in great numbers in Walker Bay / Hermanus / Gansbaai to give birth, nurture their calves and mate in calm coastal waters. Plenty of whales frolic at the same time at that bay, mothers play with their babies and fathers show off with pompous gestures, snorting and fin splashes, demanding their fair share of the mothers’ tender loving care. It is simply mind blowing to wake up in the morning and find those huge playful creatures close by, winking at you through your toes, or admire them at sunset, bringing out a toast to you with their majestic water sprays, whilst you sip your champagne in the elevated hot bubble bath.
The "Flying Dutchman" architecture of the villa, seemingly inspired by an ocean going luxury yacht, with lots of glass, steel railings, teak strip decks, sexy interior design and dimmable lights practically everywhere, are just awesome.
There is everything available in the house one could possibly wish for, on top even welcome flowers, breakfast & drinks in the fridge, a binocular, even a telescope, pool, fireplaces, plenty of firewood, a Weber Grill, an amazing music system and CD selection from contemporary to opera, a canoe and two mountain bikes in the garage, complimentary satellite TV, domestic phone calls and Wi-Fi ... Not to forget "Boetie Otto's" freshest fish on this planet (8 Groenewald Street, Gansbaai), his catch of the day straight from his hook onto your palate.
Villa The Cherry, especially during whale season, deserves a favourite position on any discerning traveller’s bucket list; we’ll certainly be back.

Luxury at its best. More than a home away from home. We were greeted by the manager on arrival who it just absolutely delightful and who had prepared a cheese platter and champagne for us after our long drive. I would go back in a heart beat. We loved and preferred preparing and having all our meals at home because it was an awesome feeling cooking in the kitchen. Dinner was the best because the sun was alway setting at the time we prepared dinner. The hiking paths are on both the right and left hand side if the Villa. Mid morning walks were the best. Oh and the music on the iPod playing through the house in the mornings .. ENCHANTING! Don't hesitate! All you need is to just pack a bag and go! Thank you Villa the Cherry
