“Absolutely Gorgeous!”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

Ngoma Safari Lodge is simply gorgeous. We spent two nights there and wish it had been longer as the lodge offers beautiful accommodations and opportunities for relaxation in addition to various activities, including night drives and whole-day river cruises. While kids are welcome, it is a more adult oriented lodge which can be better appreciated by grown-ups.

The lodge is located almost an hour drive from the Kasane airport and upon arrival you’re greeted with a magnificent view of the Caprivi floodplain and the Chobe river. It is a magical, luxurious and romantic setting.

The food was very good and the a-la-carte lunch menu was a nice touch. The staff was friendly and eager to please, and in particular we grew very fond of Peter, a very nice young man.

Our guide was Bevan; he was a really good source of information and did a truly great job during the game drives, including some serious monkey-management during a picnic lunch.

The game in Chobe is amazing; we saw hundreds of elephants, hippos, lions, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, cape buffalo, baboons, waterbuck, kudu, impala, sable antelope, etc. The waterhole in front of the lodge was regularly frequented by zebras and other animals.

One of the highlights of our stay was a night drive during which we came across a newborn zebra. She had been born only moments before our arrival and her mom was still licking it and prompting her to get up. We spent some time quietly observing them so as not to cause them stress. Several jackals were looking for an opportunity to get to the baby but we were assured that they stood no chance against the herd of zebras which was by then congregating around. Still, while the main purpose of a night drive is to see predators at their most active, we felt really happy not to have seen any that night knowing that the baby zebra would be safe.

From the moment my 12 year old niece and I arrived, we felt at home. The accommodations were perfect. Best possible views from the bedroom windows. Felt like we were right there among the animals. The staff were wonderful and made our stay very special. Our guide Solomon was patient - it was our first safari - and went above and beyond to ensure we saw everything. Food was divine. Fabulous breakfast buffets set out in the most beautiful African ceramics. Hated to leave! Highly recommended.

From the moment you arrive they make you feel at home. The rooms overlook the Chobe River for great game viewing. Sit on your balcony or take a game drive. The itinerary they planned was terrific. We had game rides, picnics by the river, sundowners by the river and again by the fire, a fantastic boat trip and the BEST game watching. Saw four of the Big five and Matumba, our guide, was the best.

Room Tip: Only eight cottages but they are great. Only noise is that of the lions roaring!

I visited Ngoma Safari Lodge in Chobe with a friend in early July. The lodge is on a ridge overlooking the Chobe river/floodplains. What a stunning place! The thatched rooms and main lodge/bar/eating areas are wonderful, with 180 degree views over the river. Accommodation is spacious and well appointed. Each room has a patio with plunge pool. Ours was drained one night by a herd of elephants! Food was excellent and presented like a 5 star restaurant. Babs and John, the managers, were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make flight bookings back to Australia for my friend when there was a medical emergency at home. Staff were great and wildlife sightings excellent! "Sundowners" by the river was an added treat. Definitely want to return to this amazing place!

Perfect cabins with a private small swimming pool where you can see the magic sunset of Chobe while you take a bath. Delicious food that could compete with the best restaurants in any city. Good wildlife and nice service. Amazing baobab in the center of the hotel. The terrace is looking to the river where all the animals go to drink and refresh. In the middle of the natural reserve, this is the real wildlife.

Our three-night stay at this exquisitely beautiful safari lodge with extended family surpassed everyone's expectations. The villas were spacious and modern while still maintaining a rustic, natural feel. The views from the decks were to die for--beautiful African scenery and abundant wildlife everywhere, gorgeous sunsets. We were attended by a caring and attentive staff led by relief manager Cathy. The food was delicious and abundant. Our guide, Simon, was fantastic and his knowledge of the local area and its amazing wildlife was impressive. We saw all of the "Big Five" and plenty more of Africa's famous animal and learned much about their unique traits and behaviors from Simon. He went above and beyond when my niece lost her cell phone while in the jeep, retracing our route and combing the sand for it, and asking his wide network of fellow guides and park officials to be on the lookout. Not one of the eight of us in our party was ready to leave when it was time, and we vow to come back again to this true piece of heaven on earth.

Room Tip: Our group occupied 4 of the villas and we were all pleased with our rooms

My husband and I have recently returned after staying 3 nights at Ngoma literally starting off our honeymoon on a high! Everyone was so incredibly friendly, along with offering a great service, nothing was too much.
Our guide Simon was outstanding, and Kathy the manager was fantastic. Even seeing us off with a hug.
As we were on honeymoon, we came 'home' at night to a filled bath with champagne/candles etc.
The meals we had were fantastic, the main lodge and our lodge were both fabulous, there is nothing I could say to fault our experience at Ngoma.
Thank you to everyone at Ngoma for giving us a honeymoon to remember, we cant wait to return, and will be telling all our friends and family about you.

Thanks Holly & Adam x
