It’s hard to do justice to this most spectacular get away. The accommodations were lovely, the food excellent, and the hospitality was second to none.
Nestled along the beautiful Chobe River and within the National Park, the Lodge offers both water cruises and land safaris, the likes of which thrilled and enchanted.
We spotted elephants, giraffes, zebra, and wart hogs to name a few. Too much wildlife to list. All wonderful, as was our guide, a highly knowledgable, passionate woman called DK. DK spent three days with our group of 2-6 tourists. It was clear from the start that DK loved her work, and that made our experience all the more enjoyable.
Most notably, a pride of full-grown lions brushed passed our vehicle en route to kill one, unsuspecting buffalo. Luckily for the stray, an elephant herd appeared in the distance to ward off the pride, and the buffalo lived. Another wasn't so lucky, and we witnessed a family of lions gnawing intently and contentedly on the carcass of its victim. Nature in all its splendor.
As memorable, we were celebrating our anniversary. Noting this, the staff surprised us with a delicious, candlelit dinner at a secluded spot, along the river. At breakfast the next morning, we were presented with an anniversary cake and serenaded by a choir of the most beautiful voices. Clearly, the staff could not have done more for us, and we loved it. We’ll long remember this journey. I’ve recommended the The Chobe Game Lodge to two friends, already, and wouldn’t hesitate to return when the opportunity presents itself.
