Wow again. Another great place from the Desert & Delta Safaris. This was our third place with them and as the other two (see my reviews about Chobe Game Lodge and Moremi Camp) it was wonderful. The food, the rooms, game drives and more than anything the people that helps and gives you a wonderful services. We will never forget them.
We will don't think in another company the next time we'll travel to Botswana.
And the game drives were great. Leopards, wild dogs, lions and the elephants always in front of your room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in front of the wáter hole.

I have just returned from an African safari which included 3 nights at Savute Safari lodge. I travelled with four others and this was our second lodge. We could not believe the number and variety of animals we saw here. Starting on the ride from the airstrip we saw elephants, giraffes and more! The food was wonderful, the staff were warm and fun and kind, each and every day!
It was such a thrill to see a lioness begin to hunt a warthog. Although she stopped it was simply amazing to watch her begin the hunt. Also, I could not have been happier when we saw a pack of wild dogs. As they are endangered it was all the more wonderful to be 10 feet from this amazing animal. Many thanks to our guide Metal. His knowledge of the area and animals is immense. We shall never forget the people or the adventures at this wonderful lodge.
Thanks to all at Savute!

What a welcome! We arrived in a small aircraft with an ostrich racing the plane down the runway. Before we made it to the lodge we had already seen elephants, antelope and giraffe. We were then greeted by the best guide ever, Baba. He was amazing! His ability to track animals was unbelievable. He truly wanted your experience to be the best ever and totally succeeded in doing so. The rooms were large, very well appointed and have perfect positioning for all day game viewing. There were always animals around. The elephants would come down to the river each evening and play in the water. Amazing! The food and service were an added plus. I would highly recommend this lodge. What an experience!

Room Tip: Rooms 7 and 8 have a water hole out in front of their deck where the animals pass by each day. I wo...

Our first ever safari and our second camp. Our first camp set the bar so high so it was hard to live up to that. But, once we got settled in, we loved our time here. "Tent" was specutular! Spacious and so comfortable. Food excellent. We had our BEST bouma experience here. The staff was great too. Game drives took much more time to find the animals than in our first camp, but we had been used to seeing something within 5 minutes. But our great guide Willie, did a great job to find us the wild dogs and we were the only group to find the black Rhino in the "wild". We especially loved the meals with the staff and the stories. Loved the hot water bottles with the panchos when we left in the cool AM off on game drive. What a nice suprise that was. Great staff, great room. Also one day we wanted to stay out longer in the AM game drive and not do a PM game drive and then met us out in the bush with a fabulous lunch just for our group. We would definatley recommend staying here.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay here and there is no doubt that Botswana is the best place left in Africa to see game in their natural habitat. We will be back for sure! The tented rooms were especially comfortable and the food was delicious. The service impeccable. Had a fanastic time.

Room Tip: Find the best camps in Botswana thru Wilderness Safaris. They will hook you up!

Savute Safari Lodge was the second lodge of the Desert and Delta Safaris group we visited (see also my review of Leroo La Tau). Their concept of sharing meals with all guests/staff around 1 large table or around the boma works very well. Everyone shares his/her travel experience with the other guests and the discussion with the staff are truly enriching. Upon our arrival, Erny (the manager) gave us a very warm welcome and showed us to our room, and what a room it was ! Super spacious, large deck with direct view on the waterhole were elephants were having their afternoon drink; magic ! Our guide (Isa) was super and spotted tons of animals including lionesses with cubs, 2 lion brothers and even a leopard, what more could we wish for. Everything was organized flawlessly; the game drives were among the best we had during our Botswana/Zimbabwe trip. Food was absolutely amazing. The moments around the boma were unforgettable (also thanks to Score's drinks). Although we had an early transfer on the last day of our stay, the management team organized things in such way that we could experience a large part of the morning game drive; Erny came to pick us up in the bush to drive us to the airstrip for our transfer to the next lodge : premium service !!! Besides being perfectly organized, Erny and his team were so much fun; we laughed a lot and had interesting conversations. Savute was without doubt one of the best experiences during our trip. Thanks Erny and the Savute team for a truly fantastic stay. I hope we can return soon.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with direct view on the waterhole

We stayed at four different luxury safari lodges in Botswana over the course of our honeymoon. We stayed at Savute for three nights and it was the undisputed favorite of the four. Our guide, Baba, was very funny and his expert knowledge of the area led us to see a lot of game during our stay. The staff was extraordinarily attentive and accommodating. Our room had a gorgeous view and we often saw elephants near the camp.
