“A Lovely Evening”

A lovely atmosphere with great food and friendly staff. The steak was cooked to perfection. The outdoor seating area is great surrounded by lovely country houses on a quiet road.

“Thoroughly Loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

After reading the reviews on TA we decided to try this one out...& what a fantastic meal it was! From the initial bread & olives through until the main course the meal could not be faulted. Sadly, much to my annoyance we didn't quite make the dessert but we'll simply have to go back. The staff were very polite & welcoming, the Inn itself is a lovely traditional old building with plenty of character. The food was cooked to perfection! The scallops were fantastic & my other half simply couldn't fault his fillet. The portion sizes are just right. Lovely ambience - we'll be back for sure very soon!

“Another delightful meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

Friday (23/5/14) was our third visit since the new menu was introduced. The crab/mango and goat's cheese/beetroot starters were superb. My main course of fish in Moroccan spices was delicious, and my Wife's guinea fowl excellent.
As always the staff were fantastic, friendly and efficient, and Dritan and Ranka the perfect hosts.
We dine out 2-3 times every week, and have not found anywhere to rival The Chequers without spending a fortune.
Keep it up guys!!

“favourite restaurant for celebrations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

We have celebrated three birthdays at the Chequers so far this year. Every one has been wonderful in every single way. Dritan and Ranka and their delightful staff top our list of superlatives for offering the warmest and most gracious hospitality of any restaurant we have ever been to. They seem to do everything not just beautifully but from the heart. We are always warmly welcomed even though we don't go to Chequers as often as we should like. Service is top notch from a team of staff who seem genuinely happy to work there. The quality of food and wines has always been superb.

Our most recent dinner at Chequers was on 10th May 2014. It was my brother-in-law's birthday and we celebrated with two of his good friends. All of them had come from London and they dine out regularly. As usual, we were warmly greeted by Ranka and shown to our table where little coloured stars had been sprinkled on the table to give the evening a festive feeling. Four of us had 'Dritan's steak' (as we call it). There was a lot of laughter as one of our guests wanted the steak 'extremely well done!' Dritan remained unfazed by this request and, with considerable charm, persuaded him to try it medium to well done. Great success! Our friend pronounced it to be 'just fabulous.' My brother-in-law commented that the entire evening had been excellent and 'without fault.'

Dritan and Ranka really do deserve all their success. They work extremely hard behind the scenes so that every dining experience runs like a well-conducted orchestra; and they still have time to speak to their guests and make us all feel that nothing is too much trouble.

A word of appreciation for the young lady who served us. We know she is a university student but regret we forgot to ask her her name .Her service was faultless but made special by her vivacity and joie de vivre. She seemed to want o make the evening a happy one. And she did!

Thanks so much Gritan and Ranka
