A lovely welcome as we came in the door and were led to our table in the spacious restaurant which was delightfully spacious room even given there was a setting for a dozen plus in the middle of it. Our table had plenty of space for the four of us, too often you're squeezed onto a table which cannot comfortably seat all. The menu was uncomplicated with a handful of starters, mains and desserts - the was true of the wine list. We settled on their Fizz & Chips offer. The food arrived quickly. It was cooked well and very flavoursome. My only quibbles (and these are very, very minor) there was not enough of the mushy peas (especially as I'm fond of them), the tartare sauce was too creamy for my taste and the lemon tart was somewhat overpowered by the lemon sorbet - heyho! We had a lovely evening, smashing food cooked well and not trying too hard. Great value given we had several large glasses of wine too - all of a good quality. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu.
