I really enjoyed my stay the first time and, with friends in the area, I knew I would return. The house is still a great place to stay in the Hudson Valley NY area.

The host (Yuan Lee) is gracious, attentive, very informative and entertaining. After my first visit, I searched his name and found how renowned he is as an artist. His knowledge of the area and the house he restored is deep and fascinating.

Each room is comfortable, well decorated and has Yuan's own artwork. For the summer, he has placed portable air conditioners in each room which allows the guests to regulate their own climate. Since I am no fan of central air conditioning, this was a huge plus for me.

The breakfast is a true breakfast consisting of coffee, juice, a fresh fruit salad, pastry and a piece of quiche. That breakfast held me until dinner time. Since the weather was cooperative, Yuan served the breakfast outside.

I really cannot recommend this bed and breakfast highly enough.

Room Tip: I would suggest looking on the website to select the room that is best for you.

This beautifully restored eighteenth-century home is the perfect spot for a special vacation. The owner and host, Yuan Lee, is a Renaissance man---artist, illustrator, historian, conservationist, and landscape designer---as well as a charming and gracious host. The breakfasts, consisting of fresh fruit, plus pastries and quiches from an excellent local bakery, are delicious. The restoration of this historic home has clearly been an aesthetic and spiritual undertaking on the part of Mr. Lee. If you're in the Beacon area, don't miss this elegant and extraordinary B&B.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience here. The house is absolutely beautiful, and full of so much rich history about the the United States and its founding fathers. Mr. Lee did an amazing job restoring every single detail of this beautiful colonial home. Mr. Lee was a wonderful host, very attentive, and very knowledgable about the history of the home and the United States. He also happens to be outstanding artist and you can view his work all over the house. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed eating it while sitting next to the fireplace in the dining room. Our room, The William Few, was beautiful, large, clean, with a flat screen TV, fireplace, lots of windows, a large bathroom, and very comfy mattress. Thank you Yuan for a wonderful stay. We definitely plan on coming back!

my husband and i, along with another coupled booked an overnight in august last summer.
we loved the house, but were unable to stay because the air conditioning was totally inadequate. i'm not suggesting you avoid chrystie house, but as a precaution, ask mr lee if he has updated the AC. there was no central air, only those portable "on the floor" units that left us wilting in the heat and unable to stay in his lovely home.

The first floor of the Chrystie House including living room, dinning room, hallway has 12 foot high ceiling, the four rooms on the second floor has 11 foot ceiling, through out the whole house, solid brick inlaid in between all plastered walls. There are four fully restored 70"x40" double hung windows In each room which provide fresh air, excellent views and lights. In the summer, three rooms with the fireplaces, dinning room and the living room, five 12,000 BTU LG floor units vent through the fire places/chimneys, provides the least intrusive, adjustable air condition. The only room without the fire place, the same unit vent through a ducted panel installed under a window. In the past three summers, thousands quests have offered their positive commends on their comfortable stay.

The unit seemed malfunctioning in a very hot day last summer had been examined carefully after the reviewer's very short stay; it turned out the machine was fine, due to some pulling, the air duct had severed from the unit and caused the hot air circulated the room. Since that day, all the joints of the vent ducts and the machine have been taped, secured and checked out routinely.
