As a kid while attending grammar school, i was introduced to a reinactment of the revolutionary war ( British against americans) by my god father who was my teacher and a history teacher and mentor ..Supposedly the real war was fought in those very grounds where pelham bay park exists, i also experienced playing softball for a league and football where we became city champs at that very field. We would hold family picinics in the summer fly our hand held gas powered plenes and play softball splitting the family in half , as well as flying kites . There is so much diversity at this location ,its easy to get too, by bus ,car or subway and has an awesome view toward the waterfront side. If you have never been there it would not be a bad idea to go!!!

Baseball fields, water playgrounds, basketball courts, bochi ball, tennis courts running track, football/soccer field, work out machines, barbeque picnic area. What else do you need? We love to ride bicycle through this huge park, and the bicycle trail connects this park with neighboring City Island and Orchard Beach.Don't forget the flock of parrots that live in this park. Lots of history in this land before it became a park.Look it up. I have and it was an adventure for my family and I to find reminents of what this land once was.

Great park for BBQs, exercising, biking, long boarding, hiking, etc. Has free parking and track/soccer field, playgrounds, etc. Bathrooms a little yucky but to be expected at a park. Lots of water fountains, and a water front. We had a lovely barbeque with the local albino community and it's been a great space for such event. Loved it to bits!
