“Very interesting with a boat ride”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

This area of New York is filled with sites of the original Erie Canal. They are partnered with the National Park Service although not part of it. But they have the stamps for the NPS passport. This site also has am inexpensive ($3) boat ride over a restored aqueduct over a river. From here we were given instructions to a restaurant (Lock 24) on the newer and functional Barge Canal.

“Fun”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

If you haven't been you should stop by. It is full of history and the park area is just gorgeous. The Erie Canal was so important to NY and I believe everyone should learn its history. It's even on the New York state quarter. Bring the kids for a nice day outside. It is worth the trip.

“15 miles on the Erie Canal”
Reviewed 26 June 2013 via mobile

Well not exactly but a good place to relive the history of this important commercial link in New York's past. Good signage to help young and old understand how the canal operated and beautiful setting for a relaxing walk.

“My dog loves this place”
Reviewed 5 May 2013

It's quiet and she loves all the smells and wonder of this park. I pull into the parking lot and she goes nuts!

“This Canal Really Built this State”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

The Canal Park allows you to see how the commerce of this state developed because of the transportation that the canal provided. There are lots of opportunities to learn more about our history and a great canal boat ride along a restored part of the canal.
