“An unexpected visit proved very worthwhile”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2013

While the community gallery was not available during our visit. The Arkell Museum is well worth a visit. Nicely curated, spanning a handful of spaces, and a very interesting overview of the history of Beech-Nut, which helped to develop the town.

“A little gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2012

This is quite a well done small art museum originally endowed by the Arkell family, the founders of Beechnut. There are also exhibits relating to the history of the company and its product marketing.

“Outstanding example of benefaction”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2012

The museum, coupled with bio of the Arkell family, provided more than most big city museums, particularly in the context of how Mr. Arkell developed it. The current exhibit, Impressionist-era pastels and watercolors, was superb. EZ to find, next to Interstate. Absolutely worth taking the time to make this a destination. Implications of the huge copy of the pre-restoration Rembrandt Night Watch (still night at the Arkell!) were interesting.

“This is a must-see.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2012

We had no idea of the history of the BeechNut founding family - the Arkells. It was inspiring to read the story of this early entrepreneur, and the way in which employees were treated. The art gallery/museum had amazing original American impressionist paintings that were gathered and donated by the Arkell family. This was a treasure of a museum and a "must see" if you are anywhere in the area.
