The winding drive leading up to the home is quite impressive and frames it beautifully. The Thompson family built a beautiful home that they used as a summer retreat. The interior architecture is fabulous especially the Great Hall, Upper Gallery and the Library. The patio off the dining room must have been fabulous in its day. A lot of work is being done by volunteer staff and they do a good job with limited funding. The Italian garden, Blue and White garden, Pansy Garden and Japanese garden are especially pretty. Some structures like the Roman Bath are in severe decay but you get an idea of its original glory. It was a pleasant visit and the staff were quite friendly and cared about the home and gardens.
