I just returned 2 days ago from my 5 day vacation in the Finger Lakes Region. After last years disaster at another resort (see other review) I was holding my breath on this one.
However, no need to worry! From the moment we turned the corner into the resort grounds it was all good. The hotel is well kept and maintained with an inviting lobby. The expansive grounds are very clean and pretty and the location right on the lake overlooking a small marina, the hilly landscape and lake activities is very picturesque.
We had a suite which is always great for the extra space. The rooms were clean and well-appointed although the bathrooms were very small.
We had dinner once in the dining room and it was excellent although a little pricey. However, the service was good and we sat outside on the patio which was lovely. We also had breakfast there once and it was very reasonably priced.
Both the outdoor and indoor pools were in great shape and clean with a lifeguard at the outdoor pool. The gym was well-equipped also. There is also a computer for guest access.
My only "complaint" about the inn would be on the service side. It wasn't horrendous or anything - it was just almost non-existent. While everyone fulfilled their duties that is where it ended - there wasn't any extra in terms of customer service. However, the majority of the staff appeared to be teenagers/university age which is great, but I think their possible lack of experience and enthusiasm showed. I am sure for a majority of these staff, working at the inn is just a summer job.
There are lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance plus a very nice park and a small, safe beach just around the corner from the inn. Within the Lakes district there is plenty to do within 1 hours driving distance. I would highly recommend the Strong Museum of Play (Rochester) Roseland Waterpark (5 mins from Inn) and Watkins Glen State Park on Seneca Lake.
Wish I had discovered this place last year and I would definitely go back!
