The dinner and breakfast we had while staying at the hotel were very good. We had a steak one night and enjoyed a breakfast buffet the next morning.

“Experience the Formal Dining Room”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2013

The formal dining room at the Athenaeum Hotel on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institute is magnificent. Excellent food prepared by a world-class chef - dining in style, meaning semi-formal style. Truly dress-up for dinner. It is fun. Try it! The dining is real white tablecloth dining the old fashioned way. Experience what it was like for travelers at the turn of the 19th Century. If you like experiences that are fine and rare, you will love dining in the formal dining room of the Athenaeum Hotel!

“Adequate food, but the adequacy of the preparation varied”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2013

Stayed at the Athenaeum for a conference. The package included all meals during the conference. The food was served as a buffet. The amount of food available was generous and there was sufficient variety. Some dishes were very nice while others lacked taste. A short conversation with the chef indicated that the kitchen staff needed to learn more about how to make food taste good without too much salt.

“History, you have to love it..”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2013

The place is cool, it has so much history, how could you not like it. We went there for breakfast, it was served and tasted OK. Mass food
processing so not like it was made just for you. But, just being there
was really great knowing who was served there before you. Everyone in the area should experence the institute at least once in their life time.
