We spent three nights here and enjoyed it thoroughly. The hosts live on site with their children and friendly dog, although in a separate wing. The inn was recently built for its current purpose, and the guest rooms and common areas are spacious and comfortable, decorated in a traditional Adirondack style -- but clean and contemporary, not at all rustic or musty. Host/owner Sharon and her staff were extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area. Breakfasts were more than ample and delicious, with very good variety. The setting on Friends Lake is ideal, with lovely views from several vantage points on the nicely landscaped grounds, and kayaks and canoes for guest use. Early evening cruise on the lake for new guests was a wonderful introduction to this peaceful spot. If you are a wine aficionado, Sharon's husband Greg has a very impressive cellar. Nice touches, like turned down beds with chocolates, are to be expected, given the relatively high price of the accommodations.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Cedar" room, which was very spacious and comfortable, with dramatic cath...

Thank you for your review! The Boat Tour is one of my favorite things to share with guests; Friends Lake is so beautiful and private and quiet. We are very proud of our breakfasts- Chef Chris started cooking a couple days per week and has definitely kicked our breakfast program up a few notches. Thank you for staying with us!

We’ve stayed twice this year (January and July) for long weekend get-a-ways. What a beautiful, intimate property on gorgeous Friends Lake. Sharon and Greg thoroughly enjoy sharing their wonderful home. They are warm and inviting. They provide five star luxury without the pretentiousness. And the breakfasts they serve are outstanding. We can’t wait to visit in the fall. Truly the a hidden jewel in the Adirondacks.

Owners and staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations and directions. Lodge is a little piece of heaven. 5pm cruise was beautiful. Kayaking and hiking were splendid. The downstairs game room and home theater were an added surprise. Lots of places to relax inside or out. Lake is private so boat traffic was minimal. Beautiful secluded mountain views. Breakfast was delicious.

If you close your eyes and imagine the perfect mountain retreat, with all the comforts, on a private lake; you will see Fern Lodge. Sharon and Greg Taylor are the best hosts, attending to our every need. including a scrumptious breakfast and appropriate wine.

After dinner out, we stayed up our last night and could not sleep because:
Hot tub looking at shooting stars.
Full moon over Friends Lake.
Fireplace taking chill out of our room..
Nightcaps on our private porch.
Loons calling their mates.
And, watching the first sun over the lake.

What more could you want, with someone you love.

Room Tip: We suggest staying in the Pine room.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in the Pine room for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect!

-Service:
Fantastic - we felt extremely welcome and someone was always around to answer questions if needed. It was great to have such personalized dinner recommendations! The lodge is extremely modern and equipped with some fancy stuff (e.g. the showers and home theatre!). There are written directions on how to work everything, and the staff was always willing to help out. They have maps and guide books available for guest use, which we found very helpful. Breakfast was delightful - beautifully presented and delicious, with lots of vegetarian options and meat from a local farm.

-Value:
Worth the price!

-Sleep Quality:
Again, fantastic. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. There was climate control as needed (AC, gas fireplace, ceiling fan) but all we needed was to keep the window open. We never had any issues with noise.

-Cleanliness:
Very clean, including the rooms, main areas, and bathrooms. They have a dog, but I didn't notice any dog fur or dog smells (and I'm the sort of person who would definitely notice).

-Location:
The lake is all privately owned so sometimes we could hear neighbors, but nothing that took away from the "Adirondack experience". The directions on the website were perfect (we made it without at GPS). Secluded enough that it's very private, but also not too far of a drive from attractions (e.g. Lake George and many great restaurants)

-Rooms:
Would stay in the Pine room again!

Room Tip: The Pine room is wonderful - PLENTY of room, wonderful lake view, quiet, and the shared porch is lar...

Fern Lodge Is exceptional! My husband and i have had the pleasure to visit here twice. We have stayed both on the main floor and upstairs. The view is beautiful. A gem sure to melt any stresses away. Wine by the lake at the firepit, a soak in the outdoor hot tub counting stars or a ride on the gondola at Gore Mountain. We look forward to visiting again, and enjoying Sharon's yummy breakfast each morning :)

My boyfriend and I just spent 4 wonderful nights at the Fern lodge in July and had a relaxing time! I had emailed Sharon ahead of time to let her know about my dietary restrictions (vegan) and she was able to accommodate my needs every morning (delicious oatmeal, sweet potato hash, fruit, french toast, veggie scrambles, soy milk and granola). My boyfriend also enjoyed all of his (non-vegan) breakfasts!

We went out on the evening boat rides twice and enjoyed learning more about the area and relaxing on the water! Sharon and Susan provided great local recommendations for lunch/dinners! We also enjoyed making a bon fire on site and spending the late afternoons swimming and relaxing on the property. We took out a 2 person kayak that was provided and enjoyed our paddle to the lagoon!

We stayed in the cedar room, and although it did not have a lake view, we had a screened on porch that was very private. The bathroom is true luxury with double sinks, double jetted tub, steam shower with multiple jets and plenty of room for two! I felt like I was at a spa every night!

We enjoyed the company of the staff, other guests and, of course, Shadow (the lovable resident pup)! The lodge was close enough to lake George and boltons landing, but far enough away to have more privacy on the water. Sharon and Greg gave us enough privacy and allowed us to really feel at home at their inn, yet were very warm and hospitable at the same time.

We had a great stay and would love to come back!
