W just returned from Clayton and stayed at the Wooden Boat Motel. The room couldn't have been more clean, everything was spotless and smeled so fresh.
The owners are very nice as were all the guests staying there.
It's a small property only 6 rooms which was great for us.
We were in room number 6 which although a bit small was perfect.

Room Tip: Room 6 worked fine for us.

We stayed here recently and were very pleased with its cleanliness and the available amenities....coffee in the morning, a refrigerator for guests' use, the screened in porch as a common area, and outside seating. It's right in town, so you can walk to shops, restaurants, and the Antique Boat Museum. The only thing it lacked was a view of the river!

Room Tip: We had 3 rooms and they all seemed about the same. Small, but just fine for us.

My husband and I decided to go to the 1000 Islands for our 2nd wedding anniversary and everything was booked in Abay, as we waited until summer to start making arrangements. We lucked out and the Wooden Boat Inn had Room 6 available. I agree with all the reviewers, we were impressed by the hosts, quaintness, cleaniness and the community areas. The room wasn't gigantic, but fine for us; it had a king bed, table with flat screen tv, table and 2 chairs, nice size vanity with 2 electrical sockets and another area for toilet and shower. We sat on the patio with our morning coffee and got some travel tips from our hostess. We really enjoyed the town of Clayton, there were high quality shops and restaurants and it definitely wasn't as rowdy as Abay. Bella's was great for breakfast and lunch and the Koffee Kove had great, hearty and reasonable breakfasts. We plan to stay again on our next trip!

I agree with the other reviews, this is not your average small town motel. It is obvious the owners care! We needed two rooms as we were traveling with elderly parents visiting the region. We all enjoyed the CLEAN rooms, the common area with a fridge, micro, single-serve coffee, indoor screened porch dining area with tasteful furniture and very comfortable outdoor relaxing area with fireplace. The rooms are on the small scale, but perfectly adequate, recently remodeled and nicely appointed. The property is walking distance to town. Great small motel!

This is our 5th year at the Wooden Boat Inn. Tom and Carol are great hosts. The rooms are quaint and clean. Centrally located to all the major attractions in the Thousand Islands. Always love seeing the tall ships and Antique Boat Museum. The Wine and Food Festival was a great success. Breakfast or a snack at "The Castle" is a must!

Normally, my reviews of small 'mom and pop' motels are not very good. However, this Inn was just perfect! It was VERY clean and you can tell that a lot of upgrades have been made. Pergo flooring, very tasteful bedding and linens. We stayed in room 4, which was a little bigger than a couple of the others. The shutter style slats on the door, make it feel almost as if you're staying at a cozy camp. There is a fire pit near the office, we didn't take advantage of it. I would recommend this place to any and everyone and would DEFINITELY stay there again.

We are very impressed with the quality of the furnishings and bedding. The rooms are small but just big enough. There is even a common area that has a full sized fridge, microwave and coffee 24/7! The sitting room and patio make socializing pleasurable.
