Like another reviewer wrote, so many of the great places in this region have either gone downhill, or have closed. There are other decent places for less money, but the rooms are small, there aren't any amenities, etc...The rooms here could probably be about $50-$70 cheaper, but not much more than that. The food at the on site restaurant, Seaway Grill, is excellent. They offer room service, but with a 22% service fee it's not worth it, imo. The outdoor patio and eating area is very nice, and the view of the river and Calumet Island is spectacular. The beds are very, very comfortable and the room was very enjoyable to be in. You can walk to everything in Clayton, which has plenty of other less expensive food options. We didn't have any complaints about the staff, whatsoever, like some other travelers did. This hotel has it all; Beautiful rooms, spectacular views, and amazing food!

We celebrated our 6th anniversary on 08/09/2014. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. The lobby is beautiful. I found the staff was very helpful. One of the bell staff Stuart was particularly helpful. A very nice addition to the staff. Our room was amazing. The views were breathtaking. We do not get away alone that often and this hotel made it worth every penny. Upgrade to the balcony water view room. The suites are AMAZING We stayed in the commodore suite. We are definitely planning a trip back. Can't wait!

Loved staying at the new 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel! What a great addition to this part of the river. The property is beautiful, the rooms are cozy, and the firepit/patio was a great gathering place for my family. And, we loved the river view from our veranda! Originally from the area but now just a summer resident, its been hard to find a "nice" place to stay for the few days in-between. It's sad that so many of the greats have deteriorated to a point where I would never stay there, or have closed-- Bonnie Castle, Pine Tree, Riveredge to name a few. The hotel had only been open a week and have read the other complaints about the staff being properly trained but please….clueless and having no idea how to run a hotel is a gross exaggeration. And, this hotel should never be compared to any $100. rooms in the area. I hope the management keeps the price high enough to discourage the same failure from the other bigger hotels. There is definitely a need for a 4+ star hotel for the more seasoned traveler. Great Job, Hart Hotels! Cant' wait to stay again!

Room Tip: The best view is a river view, of course!

Even if you aren't staying in this hotel, I highly recommend you visit for a meal or drink. The view is amazing. The outdoor seating, patio, and fire pits provide a beautiful setting. The hotel is well done and shows off the heritage of the area.

We spent two nights at this hotel. It was open only a couple of weeks. So they had a few wrinkles to work out. But the location is great. The rooms are nice. The staff was helpful and courteous.
We definitely stay there again. It is definitely worth the extra price to get a room with a balcony on the river side.

Room Tip: If you are getting a room with a balcony ask for one on the end so that you can see up or down the r...

The hotel was nice, the rooms beautiful and the grounds lovely. Not sure the staff has proper hotel training. The front desk was a little clueless when we asked about renting a boat. We went to 4 rental places and the 5th one that had a boat was closest to the hotel and we found out about it from another Marina 20 miles away. So I don't think they are properly trained on what is around the area. We didn't even know there was a workout room in the hotel since there are no hotel books or brochures in the rooms. There aren't even signs of it unless you ask front desk and they told us it was on the 2nd floor. Feel like this hotel will get into issues because the basic of having a safe in the guest rooms is not there. I guess they have safety deposit safes at the front desk but that is a hassle most people do not want to go through. Hopefully their housekeeping staff is honest. Also when we checked in there were people waiting and 1 person was checking in... The manager was in the back, This was at 7pm on a wed night...Definitely recommend putting in small safes to each room.

The setting, the building, and the rooms are all quite nice. However, the staff seem to have no idea how to run a hotel -- especially one charging $400 per night in a market full of $100 hotel rooms. Upon arrival three staff at check in chatting, clients ignored. No bell hop to be found. And, from there it only got worse. They seem like nice enough kids, it's just that they appear totally untrained on customer service -- doesn't seem they even know what folks expect. At check out we asked for help w bags and were told the bell hop was at lunch -- followed by blank stares.

Some advice to the owners: either train and watch the staff or cut the prices in half. Continuing down the present road will only arrive at bankruptcy.
