“12 William Street, so nice ”
Reviewed 3 March 2014 via mobile

One of the places that is managed by Arbor Inn is at 12 William Street right in the Village. The place is perfectly done, not old fashioned but rather just tastefully done. It isn't part of a house but rather sort of like an apartment with its own front door - cool. The amenities and service were just great. And check-in, terrific you get a code a day you open the door! No one to track down and disturb at whatever time you arrive; loved that part. A couple hitches come with being right in the village - the church bells go off in the morning and once in awhile you will hear vehicles. Lastly someone lives upstairs and you absolutely hear the walking around. Would I stay again? Absolutely.

Our family has stayed in the Williams Street apartments twice while our daughter was visiting Hamilton. The two units are really well situated right in the town of Clinton. Each visit, after the drive from the New York City area, we always look forward to checking in the room and the walking to Nola's for dinner. In the morning, my wife and I take a run in Clinton and then we always get coffee and breakfast at Cafe J, also a one minute walk from the Williams Street rooms. We have always stayed in #12 Williams Street which has been perfect for our family. The unit has a king size bed, a living room with a sleeper couch, and a kitchenette. It is a great experience being in the middle of a college town, one minute to restaurants and coffee and also being only a five minute drive to campus.

Room Tip: #12 Williams Street is perfect for couples or families who want to be in the village of Clinton, a o...

My husband and I spend the weekend at the inn with another couple and from beginning to end it was a perfect experience. Ellen and Dave don't miss a detail! You're greeted at the door and welcomed as friends. All the travelers coming in seemed to be very relaxed and made to feel at home. Breakfast was outstanding...you can choose to join Ellen and Dave in the kitchen or the nearby dining room. We sat to fresh fruit, pumpkin bread and cinnamon cake. Dave offers and assortment of juice and the Keurig nearby is loaded with great coffee and tea choices. Next comes Ellen's fresh made AMAZING breakfast entree. On Friday it was spinach quiche and on Saturday it was Eggs Benedict with salmon, asparagus and tomato...OUTSTANDING! The morning we left, Dave was outside shoveling and cleaned snow off all the cars! So sorry we had to leave; we're already scheduling a summer visit! Thank you Dave and Ellen for an exceptional weekend!

January 26,2014 - We just returned home from a lovely weekend at the Arbor Inn of Clinton. Our accommodations were impeccable! The Rockport Suite was cozy and comfortable on a blustery, cold weekend. Dave and Ellen were wonderful hosts. Our breakfasts were delicious! Ellen served a garden vegetable crustless quiche with fresh fruit and homemade breakfast breads on Saturday and Sunday began with eggs benedict featuring smoked salmon, tomato and asparagus. Sunday breakfast also included fresh fruit and more of the sour cream coffee cake and pumpkin bread. My husband and I loved the keurig in the common area outside our room with coffees, teas, hot chocolate, fresh fruit and cookies available all day. Saturday we went in to Utica and toured the Saranac Brewery, a short 30 minute drive. At Dave's recommendation we went to a small cheese shop in town on the way "home" from the brewery and purchased bread, cheese, salami and a walnut/fig confit and Ellen provided us with utensils and plates to have an afternoon snack. Brad and I cannot wait to visit in the summer to take advantage of the gardens, take a walk through the village and enjoy the view from the porch of the Arbor Inn's hilltop location.

With 5 as the highest rating, I would rate this B&B a 10!

Thank you very much Dave and Ellen, innkeepers! As we read in the "fine print" we arrived as guests and departed as friends.

This was our second stay at this beautiful and well-managed Inn. The first was in mid-September, 2013 for a long weekend. Most recent visit was Jan 10-23. On both visits, Pru was consulting (leadership training) with Hamilton College. In September we stayed in the lovely Vineyard room (Pru's favorite) and in January the Berkshire spacious suite was ideal for our lengthy visit - because of its separate sitting room, table, small fridge and large comfortable bed.
The three skylights and windows provided excellent views even during snow showers.

The real joy of Arbor Inn is breakfast when Ellen serves her delicious hot dish (such as spinach-cheese omelet, apple pancakes, and eggs Benedict) preceded by fruit, as well as homemade breads and muffins. The meal is enhanced by the friendly conversation of both Ellen and Dave and since both tables can seat at least six persons, Ellen or Dave produce stimulating conversations by introducing guests to each other.

We have enjoyed some good dinners in Clinton at Across the Row Bistro and Nola's. For lunch, go to Cosmos Café or Alteri's. There are a number of good restaurants within five miles of the Inn. We especially liked the food and ambiance of Carmella's Café on Route 5.

We feel like we are "at home" during our stay at the Arbor Inn. Pru has an on-going working relationship with Hamilton College and we plan to continue staying at the Arbor Inn -- the best B & B in the area.

I recently stayed at the Arbor Inn for 8 nights while leading a seminar at Hamilton. This was my third visit to the B&B. it is under new ownership and still equally delightful and charming. Ellen prepared a delicious hot breakfast every morning with fresh fruit, homemade breads and muffins, juice, and homemade granola. My favorite was eggs Benedict with smoked salmon rather then Canadian bacon. Other mornings included a spinach and cheese omelet, apple pancakes, a breakfast bread pudding just to mention a few. David was an excellent host even brushing the snow off my car on a January morning. The rooms are spotless and beautifully decorated. I had a suite on the first floor . There were homemade cookies, a keurig, bottled water, and a small refrigerator just outside of my door. It is hard to feel at home for eight days on the road, but not with Ellen and David. Book early for big event weekends at Hamilton or during the antique shows in the area. Try Nola's or Across the Square for a nice dinner in Clinton.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Arbor Inn for a weekend when we visited our son at Colgate. The Inn is lovely and comfortable. We stayed in the Nantucket Room, which was immaculate, cozy, and very pretty. Innkeepers Ellen and Dave are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and it is very pleasant to eat with fellow guests. Ellen is a truly talented baker. Her breakfast quiche is delicious! She leaves freshly baked cookies on the foyer table for the guests. I think I ate one each time I walked in and out of the Inn, which was more than 10 times over the weekend! Ellen and Dave offered terrific restaurant recommendations for dinner and we loved both of the meals we had in Clinton. I recommend Arbor Inn to anyone who is looking for a B & B in the Clinton/Hamilton area!

Room Tip: Nantucket Room has three beds and is large enough for a small family to stay in for a few days.
