Not too hard to get to. Pretty cool old school main building. Apparently, also has condos and chalets for rent.
Website is pretty complete about amenities etc. But the package prices can be confusing/misleading/wrong. Call to verify what you want. You may get more for less than you thought.Pictures don't do the rooms justice. Main lobby and hang out areas are pretty cool and nice. There are bathrooms in the lobby.
They let us get into our room at Noon, which was very cool. Front desk staff is nice and accomodating.
We stayed in the main building. Rooms recently renovated. Very nice. 2 big beds, waist high minifridge, microwave. 2nd separate sink outside bathroom (for wet bar). 4 cup Cuisinart coffeemaker with metal carafe.Nice room, interior corridors. Can walk to restaurant/pub/pool/spa without going outside. Really cool coffee cafe with full breakfast and wireless internet. Can eat outside in an small semi-enclosed courtyard. Very nice. Courtyard also has gas fireplaces and chairs to hang out around....very nice!!! Full restaurant and pub...live music in the pub.
Indoor and outdoor pools and sauna, pool bar and food can be delivered. Nice area with plenty of chairs and sun.
Girls used the spa---said it was nice
2 golf courses---lower one is pretty standard....fun and pretty nice...a little pricey for what you get...look for weekday specials or anytime packages.
Now for the shortcomings:
Much work still to be done on the exterior corridors and grounds---hallways a bit worn, exterior walkways need concrete repair...many uneven surfaces and old repaired areas
Many many stairs...stairs everywhere...going into the wings, up the main entrance, up to the pool....no elevators for anything....ask for a 1st floor room so you don't have to drag all your stuff in and out
Take the "RESORT" part literally.....it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere.......restaurants and drinks are about 20% or so overpriced....you can't bring your own food/drink into the pool area... they are VERY rigid about identifying pool guests and keeping outside food/drink out....beers are 3 to 4 bucks or more...there is a convenience store (owned by the resort) at 1 end that we didn't go in...we brought almost all our own stuff except for going out to dinner.
Overall, pretty nice. Pick your spot on when to go and look for specials. Kids will like the pool, couples will like the spa/golf...you don't have to leave the resort if you don't want to.
I'll go back. It has a new owner and I have a feeling it will get better and better. I just hope the prices don't go up every time they make an improvement.
