“cozy place”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

Went as a couple to stay for the night before going to an attraction. The place is small and hard to find. It has a museum but it was creepy inside. The food was great but a bit expensive. There is no pool or beach. Just a place to spend the night and have dinner. Lots of books around to read and relax.

Room Tip: cheap place to spend the night

I had the pleasure of having dinner at Vasco's Restaurant In Subic Bay Freeport Zone on a weekend of June and had a most delightful meal.

Try their chicken dishes coz they are all yummy!

The restaurant ambiance is so cool with the view of the bay and the many relics and artifacts that the restaurant owner used as the decor. Amazing!

I will eat there again!... and again.... and again!

The Vascos restaurant is one place I consider a real gem inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. To put it more accurately, it's a hidden gem since it's not visible from the main roads. One would be surprised to discover this wonderful place. The ambience and the view are first-rate. The crowd is composed of mostly whites (50%) and the rest are a mix of Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, and locals.

I did not stay at the hotel/dorm here, but I can tell you that the breakfasts are fabulous, the outlook is really cool (over the harbour) and the artifacts are very interesting. For anyone who is even a little bit interested in maritime history, there is a lot of fascinating stuff here. Anytime I am in Subic I love to come here for the food though!

The rooms cost about 3,500 pesos. They were clean but were comparable to the kind of rooms you'd get at La Union for about less than 2,000 pesos. They also don't guarantee the safety of your things inside the rooms, so you can't leave your luggage there. Funny thing about the shower, it has a clouded glass window so that people in the room can see part of your silhouette while taking a bath. The mattress is thin. The towels were clean but had holes in them. The rooms have no view -at all. The small windows face the parking lot.
There also seemed to be a lot of people lounging about, looking curiously at the guests, so it was a little uncomfortable. If you're a very private person, you wouldn't feel secure.
I guess this place is great for divers. If you're not a diver, you probably won't get the best out of your stay in Vasco's.

Room Tip: Rooms 13 and 11 don't look anything like the room pictures on the website.

The good: aussie burger, for sharing. Friend chicken. The place is good for lunch or late afternoon with friends. Relaxing ambience by the water.

Not sure: hotel. Did not try the hotel.
