“Good choice for a short visit to Glimmerglass”
Reviewed 6 August 2012

The Bayside In n and Marina is a comfortable, clean and friendly place close to the Glimmerglass Opera
Festival. We stayed in a motel room which was more than adequate and had a little balcony which would
have been perfect for breakfast if it had an umbrella, since it was very sunny. Having a fridge and a coffeepot
was convenient and the staff was very helpful.

Room Tip: The lower numbered rooms have shade on the balcony in the morning. Room 6 is sunny.

The Bayside Inn and Marina is a comfortable and friendly place for a family stay. Games, workout room, pinball type games, protected swimming area and boat marina make for ease of stay with children.
We stayed there for performances for Glimmerglass Opera Festival, which was great, since it is about 1 mile from the opera site. As two friends staying for the weekend, I would say it met our needs, but the lack of breakfast meant driving into Cooperstown (7 miles). It is really best suited for families, but comfortable for all.
Very well cared for and welcoming with hanging flowers and painted rockers in front.

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper level have balconies and a nicer view of the lake.

After my boyfriend convinced me to help him check one off on his ‘bucket list’ (visit the Baseball Hall of Fame) I was on the lookout for a nice place that we could both enjoy. We stayed 2 nights at the Bayside Inn and were most impressed by the friendly staff and their willingness to make you feel at home. We easily checked in and made our way to our motel room where we were delighted by the view of the beautiful lake. The room was clean and had many amenities from home (hairdryer, microwave, iron/board etc.). The combination of motel/inn/cottages makes for a very community feel to the property. The wi-fi was easily accessible and the beverage bar in the lounge was great when we needed another cup of coffee in the morning! It is a short drive to downtown Cooperstown but it is nice to feel like you are ‘away at the cottage’ even though you are minutes from civilization! I would highly recommend the location to others.

Room Tip: Upper room motel rooms have a cute balcony and probably a better view of the lake but it was nice to...

My family stayed for 3 nights in cottage F. It was very relaxing and the cottage was very clean and comfortable. The swimming area was very limited and there was'nt any place to fish from off the shore line. The staff was very pleasant and the grounds are very well kept. Overall a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Try to a cottage closer to the lake for a better view.

We were here for three nights. Clean, comfortable, and fairly priced. Beach is a bit limited but it's still there and fun and convenient.

Great location between town and Glimmerglass Festival...especially convenient for Glimmerglass. Rates go up steeply during Hall of Fame weekend so plan accordingly. Ask for the upper level rooms (to which you don't have to walk up because of the slope) which will give you a nice terrace witrh a view of the lake.

Myself, my wife and 2 daughters have stayed at the Bayside Inn and Marina for Induction Weekend the last 9 years. The staff is second to none. The grounds are clean and well manicured. We stay in Cottage G which is clean and comfortable. Great view of beautiful Lake Otsego. Just 7 miles from Cooperstown. It has become a home away from home for us. Almost forgot one of my favorite things, free coffee!

BayView is pleasantly staffed, with motel rooms w/lake-facing balconies at road level and cottages on a steep slope to Lake Otsego. It was unreasonably expensive ($280/ motel room) because of Baseball Hall of Fame induction weekend, but if you choose another time it's probably reasonable. Clean rooms, recreation facilities, free coffee (but no breakfast available). Main drawback; though it has a small beach at the foot of the property, the swimming area is between 2 marina docks thus likely to be a bit gunky, and the maximum depth is 4 feet, width not enough to swim more than a couple of strokes; so we merely sunned & read. Convenient to Glimmerglass Opera just north of it perhaps a mile.

Room Tip: Choose Rooms on upper level if you book motel rooms.

I am pleased that this guest enjoyed her room and our staff at Bayside. Unfortunately, Hall of Fame Induction Weekend is the most expensive weekend to be in the area and the rates of all of the accommodations are at a prime during the weekend.

There is a detailed description, along with pictures, of our beach and swimming area on our website. According to New York State Department of Health Regulations we are required to have a roped swimming area for the safety of our guests and especially small children. Adults are welcome to swim past the roped area, at their own risk. The docks don't make the swimming area any more gunky than it normally would be, the lake is naturally gunky in spots. I also want to note that the swimming area is smaller than normal because of the weather that we have had. In addition to having an extremely mild winter with little to no snow, we are also experiencing a drought. It has certainly been a strange season for most of the country and my thoughts are with everyone that is experiencing the loss of their homes due to much more extreme weather than we are facing. In hindsight, I feel lucky that the only thing that I can complain about right now is the size of our swimming area, which no one can change but mother nature.
