Gaffer District area is a great place to visit. There are so many fun special events thru out the year. The Market Street business district is an excellent place to shop and browse with family and friends. This small town area is amazing with big ticket events and productions. Gaffer District really knows how to produce and do long term strategy planning for the benefit of the entire community. Job well done.
BTW--did I mention that monthly parking is only $37.00 per month for a COVERED garage space? You probably will not be able to find this deal anywhere else in the country.

Classic heritage street dating to the mid-to-late 19th C, showcasing the glass manufacturing history of the town. Easily and enjoyably walked end to end. While there are some vacant shops, most are busy and thriving shops, eateries, boutiques and the like. If you like to shop, brand names, like Bass and Van Heusen, are deeply discounting their winter stock right now. Yessss! Great way to spend the day.

We always try to patronize local businesses wherever we are, and Corning never disappoints. We have been coming here for over 20 years and watched many storefronts change through the years, as well as visited many long-time favorites. The shops are often staffed by owners who show a genuine interest in where we are visiting from, what brings us there, and what types of items are of interest. The historic architecture and pedestrian (and dog)-friendly walkways and central square give you a sense of "destination" and classic hometown friendliness.

We enjoyed strolling through the Gaffer District while in Corning for a visit to the Rockwell Museum and the Museum of Glass. You can park once and do both museums and the Gaffer District, and parking on the street is free on the weekends. There are some really wonderful shops, antique stores and galleries, and even a live glass blowing studio, in the gaffer district. Give yourself 2 hours to check out all the shops.

This is such a beautiful place to spend as a couple. Interesting history, beautiful architecture, nice shops and good food. We went when it was a bit chilly, so the crowds were down. However, this fact made the experience ideal. We paid to park one afternoon and found a way to come up with $.85 required. What a great way to preserve this historic and important area!
