The last night of our trip through the finger lakes was unplanned, and we weren't sure what city we would stay in, let alone what hotel/inn. The only thing I knew was that I wanted it to be in the direction of home (Pittsburgh) and not farther away. I found this place and felt like maybe the pictures were deceiving because it seemed to good to be true for the price. I also wasn't sure about Corning. I mean, I knew they had the glass museum, but I wasn't sure that that would be a huge draw for us.
When we pulled up the the Gaffer Grille, my husband was looking at me a little funny. By the time the bartender showed us the rooms, he was a believer. He kept asking me how I found this place! The room would be a suite in just about any hotel, with a living room, kitchen area, exposed brick walls, a super comfy bed, and a whirlpool tub, and on the week days, it was something like 150 bucks!
I was also wrong about Corning. It's a super cute little town (at least the main road the inn is on) We thought we would walk up and down the street and then maybe check out the museum. Wrong! There was enough to see on the street that we didn't even have time for the museum, and that was just fine! We got dinner at some wine bar place, and then listened to live music outside for a couple of hours. It was a great way to spend a Thursday evening.
When we got back to the room, we got a second dinner (The restaurant that the inn is attached to offers room service), drank wine, watched TV and had a great night sleep in the super comfy bed.
