“Exceeded every expectation - nothing short of PERFECTION!!!!”
Reviewed 11 June 2009

My wife and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary with a weekend at The Cromwell Manor and a motorcycle tour of the Hudson River Valley. I chose the Cromwell for its 5-star rating across over 100 reviews, the accolades posted on the website, it's location, and what really made the choice a definate was the professionalism and swift responses to my questions via email with Jack, the innkeeper/proprietor.
Upon entering the property, the main house is an impressive sight with its huge, towering colums. There is ample parking too. We were greeted at the door by Jack, who gave us a tour and really made us feel welcome. We arrived around dinner time and we were shown menus and given recommendations on local restaraunts. Jack made our reservations for us right then.
My wife and I stayed in The Storm King room. A super clean, spacious, 2nd floor corner room and the classical music softly playing on the radio was a nice touch... It's important, I think, to note that although the main house was built in 1820, it's SOLID as a rock. The floors don't even creak. The bathroom was as spotless as the room itself. The shower offered more than enough water pressure. Something we have found to be hard to find in Bed and Breakfasts of "mature years".
Breakfast was served with the best service you'll find ANYWHERE. The presentation was perfect - worthy of a magazine photo. The varied foods offered were all exceptional. I actually had Jack bring out the chef so I could personally praise her culinary expertise.

My only regret was that we had to leave The Cromwell Manor and get back to the reality that is our every day. The Cromwell Manor is the PERFECT getaway and we will definately return for many more stays!!!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Cromwell Manor this past weekend. We have stayed at many b&bs and this one was great! The room we chose (Saffron) was one of the smaller rooms but was cozy and had everything we needed. I was impressed with the little "extras" that were provided. In addition to your average shampoo, conditioner, ironing board, etc they offered snacks in the room, comfy robes, and a nice relaxing CD for our listening enjoyment. The house was appointed with everything one would need and it was spotless! The breakfasts were delish and the host, Jack, was very fun to chat with...ask him about his marathon running time...WOW!

We got in late on Friday and left early on Sunday so we really only had one full day but we took advantage of the area and went to Brotherhood Winery and Palia Winery. Both were so much fun! If you decide to go to either of these places be sure to take the tour at Brotherhood and ask for Franklin when doing your tasting....I promise you will not be disappointed. Plus with Brotherhood the wines are SOOO reasonably priced, we walked out with 5 bottles of wine for only $44!! Palia was great as well, but much smaller in scale, if you are lucky you will happen in during a "jam session" like we did. The winery has live music and while we were there the entire staff was chillin, playing some tunes.

For dinner we went to Canterbury Inn, right down the street from the b&b, it was very quaint (you can tell it is a local's fav) and the food it great! If you are with your significant other, be sure to ask for "the nook", it is the best seat in the house.

All in all I cannot say enough about our experience. With Cromwell Manor what you see is what you get, no frilly, grandma b&b feel, just a pleasant, clean, cozy home. We highly recommend!

My partner and I were seeking a quiet weekend away from our 21 month old son. We were both desperate for a night of sleep, yet desperately missing our boy. We found a perfect balance of serenity and conversation at Cromwell Manor. We had the Derby Suite on the second floor which was so quiet we heard not a sound all evening. Breakfast was delicious and enjoyable the next morning with host Jack, as we eased back into reality and enjoyed a conversation about life and travel. We left relaxed and rejuvenated!

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a luxurious, quiet stay away from home.

We had a wonderful stay at The Cromwell. Jack greeted us with fresh baked cookies and immediately put us at ease. It was our first B & B experience. He heped us make dinner reservations in a terrific local restaurant for our first evening and had plenty of information available on things to do and see. Next door to the Inn is a lovely gift shop and farm. We got great muffins and fudge there! The Manor is beautifully decorated with fine antiques and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was terrific, beginning with sweet carmelized pears and granola filled apples another day. Juice , coffee, and an delicious entree! We plan to return and have already recommended The Cromwell to friends.

My husband and I and another couple stayed at the Cromwell Manor for two nights & we had a very enjoyable stay. The warm & friendly hospitality of the innkeepers, Bette and Merle, as well as Cromwell's owner, Jack, will definitely make us want to return again and again. The breakfasts are delicious and we also loved the homemade chocolate chip cookies which were always available in the foyer. We highly recommend this establishment!

Fourteen of us gathered at the Cromwell Manor Inn to spend New Year's Eve together this year. Everything was perfect. The rooms were very nicely appointed with antiques and comfortable beds. Everyone had a private bath. The innkeepers were very accomodating to our requests. Some rooms had fireplaces and flat screen tvs. We all gathered in the living room, lit the fire and a friend played the piano and we sang. We also played a lot of games together in this room. We brought food to nibble on and Jack and his wife heated the food and served it. That was great as we didn't have to leave for New Year's ! The inn is very easy to get to, close to outlets if you like shopping, and on a beautiful piece of property. We had a wonderful breakfast the next morning and thouroughly enjoyed our stay. This is a perfect place for a large family gathering, wedding, etc. We would highly recommend this inn.

  • Liked — The friendliness of the innkeepers, and the beauty of the inn.
  • Disliked — Nothing.
