The jack o lantern blaze is amazing to say the least. Yes, you are pretty much in a long line the entire stroll through the blaze, but thats to be expected! There are tons of pumpkins designed to be huge spiderwebs w spiders, dinosaurs, an ocean...there are even famous people. You have to see it to believe it. Buy tickets in sept for October. By the time oct rolls around they are sold out!! Definitely a memorable experience never to be forgotten. When you arrive, go to the restroom as there are none along the trail, also buy hot cocoa to keep you warm!

Wow... this place was amazing. We drove 4 hours to see it and it was totally worth it! Pumpkin dinosaurs, pumpkin jack in the boxes, huge pumpkin sunflowers, and long pumpkin snakes. This place had it all. They even had a light up pumpkin display synchronized to music! I would definitely recommend this event to anyone. But book in advance, the weekends start selling out in August!

I've taken my grandchild to The Blaze since she was a toddler. And every year since she's wanted to go back. The displays have only gotten better each year. Downside? The crowds have only gotten bigger. But it's a friendly, patient crowd & The Blaze never disappoints.

On for certain dates in October and November at Van Cortlandt Manor it was well worth a visit for this annual display. Only a 45 minute drive from NYC we loved this outing with our 5 year old and grandparents. It opens at 5pm and tickets sell out fast and so be sure to buy ahead of time. We made a day of it and first visited nearby Philipsburg Manor.

There are over 5,000 carved illuminated pumpkins on display and it is an amazing sight to see as they are all spread out across the gardens and along the front of the manor house.

We went to "Blaze" last night (11/9/13) and had a wonderful time. The entire place was lit up brightly with carved pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Mood and theme fitting music made the event even better. A trial of lit pumpkins in the shapes of snakes, dinosaurs, and even ghosts and skeletons. A giant pumpkin made spider's web and a tower clock are the main events that grab everyone's attention. A perfect time of year to host an even such as this. Plenty of free, guided and controlled parking on premise. It takes about an hour so see the whole thing. There is also an area for souvenirs and things to eat and drink. An area for pumpkin art is very impressive. Free pumpkins, though somewhat large are free upon leaving the exhibit. All proceeds to this event go to the Lower Hudson Valley Historic Society. We live in Staten Island in NYC and took about 1 and 1/2 hours to get to the place. A word to all is, come early and try one of the many places to eat in this little town. All places get very crowded before the event times, so plan accordingly. We tried a local diner and it was great.
