The cottage was very quaint and the location very peaceful. Perfect for a quiet and relaxing getaway. Bob and Joyce were gracious hosts and very responsive to any questions or concerns. I would highly recommend the cottage.

thank you for your review... we love our little cottage and so glad to be able to share it with our guests. The little beach community of New Suffolk is a very special place, not to mention the fabulous BEACH! Hope to see you next summer. Joyce and Bob

We've had many bed and breakfast experiences and our time at The Farmhouse certainly ranks among the best. Running a small establishment is tricky (there are only 3 guest rooms and the owners live on the premises) as you want to create an atmosphere where guests feel at home and taken care of but not intruded upon. Joyce and Bob achieve that balance.
Four of us stayed for 3 nights, occupying 2 of the 3 rooms. My husband and I stayed on the first floor in a large room that has a fireplace and porch opening out to the expansive yard. Joyce has taken pains to furnish the inn with period pieces but not at the price of comfort. The bed was comfy and the linens lovely. The bathroom was very up to date and, as was true for the entire home, exceedingly clean. Our adult son and his partner had a corner room upstairs that was also tastefully furnished and comfortable (though not quite as quiet as our room because it faced onto the road - though the road is not heavily traveled).
Breakfasts are a feast and during our stay were served on the front porch. Joyce and Bob have a small group of free range hens that provide fresh eggs for the morning meal (no roosters so there's no early morning crowing). In addition to the delicious egg dishes Joyce served, they have a large number of blackberry and raspberry bushes so fresh berries were available each morning (we even volunteered to do some of the picking). Joyce also raises bees and makes the most delicious honey. My son and I are both gluten free and Joyce accommodated our dietary restrictions while providing delicious options.
The property itself invites you to be outside. There are Adirondack chairs well positioned to enjoy the views and the grounds are nicely maintained (though thankfully nothing fussy). You can't help but relax when you are there. Their friendly, well behaved lab and beautiful horse help you to wind down as well.
Joyce and Bob have deep roots in the Northfork and talking with them provided us with a wealth of information about the area. (The Farmhouse is well positioned to allow you to explore both the Sound and the Bay and to go to the farthest eastern point of Orient and to nice towns like Mattituck to the west.) We spent one day touring various parts of the Northfork while visiting 4 or 5 wineries (they were helpful in guiding us to the non-commercial, picturesque ones). Another day we took the ferry over to Shelter Island from Greenport where we explored the island and hiked in the preserve that the Nature Conservancy established. On our final day we went to the Lavender Farm and to the goat cheese making farm (very well worth a visit). We also ate great meals -- Legends, Noah's, and First and South all served delicious food, with many fresh seafood options. This area prides itself on organic, sustainable farming so come prepared to enjoy great, fresh food.
In all our exploring I never saw another accommodation I wished I'd chosen instead. The Farmhouse is definitely the place to stay if you're visiting the Northfork.

Room Tip: The first floor room with a porch is very quiet.

Everything was impeccable! It was beautifully decorated with a "farmhouse" casual style. The accommodations were very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The hospitality was warm and friendly. Lots of privacy and the owners respected that. The breakfast was delicious. There was a beautiful view of the sunset in the backyard. Can't wait to return!

Stayed here with my girlfriend for one night while making our way though wine country. This place was really nice. Perfect for a quiet little getaway while exploring the Northfork. Joyce and Bob were very accommodating. They told us about a great little Lavender Farm not too far in the area. Breakfast was delicious. Joyce is quite the chef: homemade honey, granola, yogurt, cookies and Pancake souffle! The room was nice and cozy with a comfortable bed. Joyce and Bob had some great recommendations for us to visit in the area. We are looking to come back real soon for a visit. Definitely keep this place as an option!

We had a great stay at the Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast. The rooms are clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Bob and Joyce are very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. Breakfast was fabulous. This is not your typical b&b, it's excellent.

This was our first trip to Long Island, so we stayed in a couple of b&b's to get a feel for the area. This is the one we'll go back to. Joyce, Bob & Kubota are great hosts. They strike the perfect balance between very friendly and letting you do your thing. Their recommendations for places to visit were spot on. The breakfasts were both yummy & interesting. All rooms were spacious, clean and well decorated w/o being cluttered.

Room Tip: The first floor room has the added convenience of a porch & separate entrance.

My wife and I visited the Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast a few years back for our anniversary. We decided to go again a few weeks back and the stay was just as amazing. Joyce and Bob make know how to make a couple feel welcome! Between the immaculate rooms, the playful Kaboda, and the food (wow, the food!), this is the best B&B I've ever been to. I look forward to another stay at the Farmhouse.
