We have gone to Darien Lake's lodge annually for about 10 years. The new owners have improved both the park and the accommodations. The biggest complaint has been about the quality and diversity of food. While they could still improve, we appreciate the recent enhancements. The park is clean, safe and offers excellent value. The hotel is very convenient for families visiting the park. A personal observation and one shared by other guests is that while the staff are friendly, they don't seem to be well informed about the hotel, park or basic industry hospitality etiquette. For example, none of the hotel staff were aware of the hours of operation at the park (I found it in the brochure at the room), information about local restaurants, nor did they ask how are stay was at the hotel when we checked out. We had a suite across from the ice machine. We sucked it up for two nights, but it was loud in that spot. I would not return for the 11th time if this was a big issue for me, but I share it as an example for improvement. I recommend it to anyone seeking old fashioned family fun. We love our visits to Darien.

Room Tip: Book a kids suite. It is worth the extra money to get a microwave and more privacy for your kid(s...

We bought a room from a friend who booked 2 in her name. She was told they were "special" because they were only for one night and on a concert night. The one room cost us $320. We truly expected a great room for $320 for one night, what we got was nothing even remotely close to "great". First of all, the room was DISGUSTING!! Our comforter had what could only have been blood on it! In more then one location there was some unknown brown drippy substance on the walls and door. We could not believe that for the price, the room wasn't clean. On the plus side, the staff and cleaners were very nice. I would never stay at this hotel ever again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Just spent 2 nights with my husband and son (under 10 yrs) at the lodge and it was just right for what we needed.

Our room overlooked the pool. It was a nice size, beds were comfortable, very clean, with 2 queen beds and a bar fridge which allowed us to buy a few things at Tops for breakfast and snacks.

I recommend not relying on the hotel or park for all your food choices - it's very limited and less than nutritious. The lobby had a Tim Hortons - good but not quite like home.

The pool was very well maintained and offered a nice quiet break from the park in the afternoon or early evening. There was also a nice patio around the pool where we had our coffees and breakfast since the rooms didn't have balconies.

The lodge was located a short walk from the park. As a guest of the lodge you do not have to enter from the main gate so it's much easier. You have a very pretty pathway about 5min around a man made lake to the park. This also makes it easy to take a break from the park during the day.

We very much enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it for a family vacation if u are planning a couple day visit to the park.

If you need a room that accommodates more than 4 go somewhere else! The pull out sofa had coil springs coming thru the mattress and the bed was shaped into a V. It took 2 hours to have them bring a cot only to find it in the same condition. In addition was told the hotel ran out of blankets so may not be able to bring me one. No sleep. Definitely not worth it.

There is no restaurant at the hotel and the walk to the park is long enough, especially in the rain. There are snacks and beverages available some of the time at a small counter in the lobby; didn't look appealing and was expensive (a large can of beer was $6.95).

The beds were quite soft; we don't believe the room was thoroughly cleaned as we found some garbage under our bed that did not belong to us.

Front staff hung up on an incoming caller numerous times before he could get through to the room. There was one front staffer who checked us in who was quite pleasant and seemed to know what she was doing; too bad she wasn't there all the time. We also had a problem with a very inconsiderate security guard (allegedly with the concert not with the park per se) and the front staff kindly listened to my concern but never did get back to me.

If it were not for the park, this hotel would not be a destination. We were there for a concert and only there for one night so they pretty much gave us no alternative as they do not rent out the RV's for one night.

We had booked a campsite for 4 nights at Darien Lake, as we do every years. We enjoy the campground because it allows you to make your own meals and have a bonfire in the evenings. Midway though our trip a terrible thunderstorm blew in and our tent and campsite was soaked. We asked to upgrade to an RV, but they were all booked. The staff offered us a hotel room instead, and when we said we preferred the campsite for cooking, they allowed us to keep it as well. (this was midweek and there were plenty of empty campsites). It was awesome, we had the best of both worlds, we ate at the site and showered and slept at the hotel, plus it was extremely hot and humid, so the airconditioned room was a blessing. The room was large and spacious, the hotel was clean. Our room had a small fridge, and there was a communal microwave by the vending machines. We went to the pool and had fun with the lifeguards (they hadn't had any action until we showed up). There is only a snach bar in the hotel itself, it sold pizza and other hot and cold items, but we only used it to fill our season pass drink cups. There was a small fitness room and games room. The hotel is very convenient for the park. A suggestion would be an outdoor grill that guests could use and a firepit for guests to roast marshmallows in the evenings. We really appreciated the helpful staff and it was great to not have to pack up a wet tent.

Room Tip: A room facing the pool will give you the view of the fireworks at night.

we stay just one night while there for a concert. Our room seemed clean and comfortable but looked a little worn out. The carpeting looked old same with the comforters on the bed. It was nice the room had a small refrigerator. The desk clerk told us it was a 10 minute walk to the concert was much longer. After the concert it was another long walk back. There is no place to get a thing to eat after the concert, even the small snack bar in the lobby was closed. People were walking around looking for something going to the machnes for candy and chips. I would think on a night of a concert they would keep the snack bar open. Not sure if we would stay again, this cost almost 200.00 for just a stardard room.
